Recently discovered Vylet Pony. It's soo talented and makes amazing brostep/EDM/metal. Check out its latest album Love & Ponystep. It's soo fun to listen to.

Also check out Zheanna Erose, basically a harmonic witch, she makes amazing microtonal music. Her EP WXTCHCRXFT takes you on a journey

Femtanyl: most of her songs are breakcore. And the cheeriness of the beat belies what's said in the lyrcs.

her music is the epitome of "a medieval child would have died if they had listened to this"

[-] Interstellar_1 2 points 19 hours ago

That's an apt description lmao

I LOVE HER B-SIDE REMIX OF GOLDEN RIDGE

[-] Ashen44@lemmy.ca 1 points 17 hours ago

I didn't know she did celeste music!!!!!!!! It's so good!

[-] tuna@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 12 hours ago

It's a shame that's one of my favorite songs ever and I never looked at her other work ... do you have any recommendations??

[-] Ashen44@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

oh gosh, it's so hard to choose, she has so mamy good songs... I'd say I'm personally partial to "We've never met but can we have a cup of coffee or something", and "Let's walk across this forest, I can feel everything being real again" though!

also can I point out her banging awesome website???

  • Desert Mambas - Non-binary; blues rock?
  • IrisFlower - Trans; shoegaze / indie rock
  • Destroy Boys - Unsure (listen to "Boyfeel"); punk rock
  • Femtanyl - Trans; breakcore
  • Sol Procter - Non-binary; rock
  • Against Me! - Trans; anarcho-punk

Honourable mentions:

  • My Chemical Romance - Gerard Way uses he/they and has said that they have "always identified a fair amount with the female gender".
  • Alex G - Not queer, but the song "The Same" from RACE is very trans.

I always go into these music requests threads looking for punk rock and I don’t find much very often but this shit is amazing!! Thank you so much! I’m going to go buy some of their stuff 😊

[-] Bo7a@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

Get into folkpunk and you will be drowned in great music where 80% the bands are trans/nonbinary and the others are allies.

[-] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Let’s go let’s go let’s go!

I’m fond of Animal Sun and Lena Raine!

Obligatory mentions of Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), Wendy Carlos, Sam Smith, Kim Petras, 100 gecs, Left at London, Nemo, and SOPHIE.

Some of these artists are huge and you've probably heard their stuff, but they're worth listing off anyway.

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Wendy Carlos

switched on bach and clockwork orange soundtracks are bangers.

[-] Evkob@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

100 gecs is one of my favourite bands and I'm just now learning that Laura is trans 😅 Kinda dope actually that I've followed them for years and haven't seen anyone misgender her or otherwise be transphobic.

I guess that speaks to the type of person that listens to hyperpop, haha

[-] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

I figured it out the first time I listened to "dumbest girl alive". It struck me as a story about a trans woman feeling awkward after transitioning, and I googled it and sure enough she was trans

GEL's frontenby is a badass, and Queercore classic G.L.O.S.S. is always great too.

I really like The Bedroom Witch's darkwave/synthpop music. It makes me feel things.

Been a long time since they broke up, but I'll never stop loving G.L.O.S.S. (Girls Living Outside Society's Shit)

Arca, love her

Game Genie Sokolov is one of the most talented chiptune / FM-synth artists out there. I especially recommend the albums Signal Loss and Insert Disk 02. Not game music, she writes all-original songs.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
