They have hundreds of hours in Call of Duty!

And that's exactly why we need good public transportation and walkable/bikeable infrastructure.

I've been working as an intern for the last 6 months, and today it ended at 3pm. Not to worry though, I was hired as a full time employee very recently! There's a 2 week gap in employment, which I'm treating like a vacation and celebration of my accomplishments.

I hope this inspires them to carry shields and learn swarm defense

Your ignorance is showing.

See, I live in Minneapolis. I was a rapid responder. I attended Renee's vigil. I'm a member of multiple groups and participated in the direct democracy which planned the Jan 23rd and May 1st strikes. I'm one of the anarchist "terrorists" Trump wants to crack down on.

Rapid response groups were forming in November as ICE presence was ramping up pre Metro Surge. By the time I was a rapid responder, my hyperlocal neighborhood chat had over 3000 people in it, and that was weeks before Renee's murder. Renee was a rapid responder, murdered in cold blood for resisting fascists. Alex was an average citizen, simply trying to help a neighbor and deescalate the situation. We prevented abductions. We scared the pants off of the Trump administration, which is why they drew down. We're still resisting to this day until ICE is abolished. During the crisis, people travelled to Minneapolis to learn how we were resisting. Now that we're no longer in crisis mode, people are traveling to every major city in the country to teach people how we did it.

Edit: as for fighting billionaires, our movement officially adopted the slogan "No ICE, No War, No Billionaires". Our general strike in January was so effective that basically every major corporation in Minnesota signed a letter to the president to draw down.

[-] rockSlayer 29 points 14 hours ago

So Minneapolis didn't show out in force to resist the invasion of ICE?

I have hope that he's a true class traitor, but this type of bait and switch has happened before. I won't hold my breath, but he seems promising

I've been a long time Minecraft player, and just like everyone else I have periods of taking long breaks. Yesterday I was playing Minecraft with him on his ipad, and I found out that he doesn't have anyone at home that can help him with Minecraft. He's never even built a house before!

I spent most of today putting off my chores and building a base for him in creative to learn PC controls. I built a house, a greenhouse, an animal pen, 2 beacons, a nether portal base on both ends, and surrounded it with a wall. The plan is for me to turn it into easy mode survival, so I loaded up the base with food, armor, weapons, supplies, farm animals, iron golems, cats, dogs, and more.

I had an absolute blast designing this base! It has a lot of fun details, like the greenhouse having speckles of colored glass. The house is 2 stories with a basement and a tower that goes 2 floors higher. My favorite detail of the tower is making the enchanting table float by using half slabs.

The nether portal building is a huge portal using the boundaries of portal for the building. The walls are alternating between warped planks and crimson planks. The other side had gilded blackstone for floors and deepslate bricks for walls.

I decided that the higher floors of the buildings are on slabs, to prevent unintentional building. There's a ton of chests and barrels, so he can store things all over the place. I gave several max enchanted sets of weapons and armor, even more unenchanted sets of weapons, tools, and armor, and all the supplies necessary to build hundreds more. The kitchen is stocked with food and raw ingredients.

I'm so excited to play it with him! I'm going to turn it into a LAN world.

I was hired full time! (self.littlewins)

For the last several months, I've been working as an intern with the hopes I'd find a full time position because I love the work. There was one created, and I was encouraged to apply by my manager. I was hired! This position doubles my salary!

I can't sleep, so I'm running some numbers in my head. I have a mutual fund that I plan to invest in, and wanted to make some financial goals and projections for the next 10, 20, and 30 years. I turn 30 this year and I'm likely to start a new job that will last for at least 1 year, so long term planning is probably a good idea at this new phase in my life.

My primary goal is to retire as soon as possible by living off of the earned interest. This is how I plan to invest. I have 3 different investment plans, based on various estimates on what my discretionary income will be. The plan is that I will reinvest all interest until I retire. I marked the retirement age, along with the estimate for what the interest income will be. The conservative assumption is the baseline, where my current salary is at roughly $40k per year with $200/mo as discretionary income available to invest. I want to keep my expenses at approximately this level until I retire. The aggressive goal is what I plan to strive for assuming the next 10 years go well, and the middle is a realistic goal I believe I can achieve.

Conservative: $200/mo only

  • 10 yr income: 7,250
  • 20 yr income: 21,750
  • Retire at 56: 43,450
  • 30 yr income: 58,000

Estimated: $1500/mo for 1 yr, $500/mo after

  • 10 yr income: 14,700
  • 20 yr income: 45,800
  • Retire at 48: 41,250
  • 30 yr income: 107,300

Aggressive: $1500/mo for 3 yr, $3000/mo after

  • 10 yr income: 43,300
  • Retire at 40: 50,950
  • 20 yr income: 123,000
  • 30 yr income: 311,300

Hey y'all, on this beautifully lazy Sunday we're getting stoned and watching one of the great two parters within the franchise.

I'm watching TNG s4e26/s5e1 "Redemption". There's a scene where Worf's honor is restored, by grabbing and bloodying Gowron's d'k tahg. This got me thinking, Klingons absolutely adore blood rituals. Presumably, 24th century medicine makes contracting an STD a trivial issue. However, 21st century equivalent medicine would be far more limited.

I feel validated. I'm brand new to working with this kind of data and genetic research in general. I was super confused for the last week about why some data didn't seem to fit into the correct group, and was even told that the thing was correct but I wasn't doing things quite right. I sent my manager the list of "incorrect" data and now he thinks that my results are more correct than the curator's method. He's working with his collaborators and the data scientist to correct it!

This play is about the US suffragist movement from 1913 to 1920. In this song, Alice Paul (Protagonist) is convincing Inez Milholland to go on a national tour of the country to get Woodrow Wilson voted out of office because of his delay, deny, deflect tactics towards the women fighting for the vote.

As an organizer myself, this song resonates deeply. I've had this conversation with myself several times.

Before I start my little rant, I want to speak to the liberals in the wall. I am not, nor have I ever been, a sovcit. Anarchists and sovcits share a resentment for these documents, but that's where the resemblance ends.

I'm a prominent union organizer within my industry (tech) and was recently extended the offer to travel to California to represent my union at a conference next month. I love going to union conferences, so of course I accepted. That's when I remembered that my passport is expired by a couple years, and I further realized that I don't have a real id. So now I need to get a new passport.

I decided that I want a passport card along with my book, because a card would be easier to carry for this conference. This shit is expensive! $130 for renewal, $30 for the card, and $60 for the expedited processing. $220 total. I fucking hate that I need to register with the government to travel. I fucking hate that I need to surrender my privacy to this fascist regime. I fucking hate that my only option for fast travel is by plane. I fucking hate borders.

Oh, rent a flat above a shop

And cut your hair and get a job

And smoke some fags and play some pool

Pretend you never went to school

But still you'll never get it right

'Cause when you're laid in bed at night

Watching roaches climb the wall

If you called your dad he could stop it all, yeah
