So I found a really cute sundress I would like to buy, but I would like to increase my bust size a little to fill it out. I found some silicone bra inserts on amazon, both individual and ones that are connected in the Middle. Do any of you have any experience in this department?

Any advice or experiences even tangentially related would be appreciated!

Thanks

Sooooo first off i highly recommend the breast form store, look for it on google or whatevs. Their great, and if you need extra help with fit and stuff they are great in that dept as well. Not an ad, just love their work. Also will ship discreetly to you, plain package with a generic return address, if thats a concern.

So, you looked and got forms, now what? Well to start you can get pocketed bras, from the same place or elsewhere, thatll help you get a feel for having them and being able to adjust somewhat on the fly is good. They slip right into the pocket, and is by far the easiest way to wear them.

But i wanna wear this skimpy top and my bra shows! Or i wanna go braless! Never you fear, medical grade adhesive is here! All these next products are available on amazon, but look for them elsewhere if you dont want to fund bezobubs new rocket. I personally use (and HIGHLY recommend) skinister medical silicone adhesive, paired with UniSolve wipes to clean them afterward. This adhesive is the only one i ever tried that will hold, no matter what you do, for as long as you want it to hold.

Wear gloves and thank me later. You spread an even layer of adhesive (less is more, 2-3 sprays is usually enough for mine) and apply where you want. You then want a nice comfy underwired and supportive bra to wear for atleast a half hour. The best way is to apply, lean back in a chair or lay down, and apply moderate pressure evenly for 10-20 minutes. Seems long, but its the difference between holding and peeling.

Some other notes i dont see often enough, but i feel are super important:

  • get skinprep, i use smith&nephew skin prep wipes. You wipe them over the area youre applying to.This will really help with micro injuries and stripping, which you really dont want trust me

-good lord, tape your nips! I use the same kinesiology tape as for tucking. Trust me, your nipples are very sensitive and forms do tug and pull and shift, even though they are glued down.

-never spray the adhesive directly on your skin. Never let oil touch forms. But do get a bottle of baby oil for any adhesive residue on your skin. Its the best way to remove it without messing up your skin.

-you do you, they say not to wear them to sleep or to not wear them for looong periods of time, ive done both. Like everything else in life, its about your risk tolerance vs reward.

  • they dont recommend water for them, especially hot water. But you can get away with lukewarm showers if your careful. But they do sell aqua forms.

-take them off slowly, not tons of pressure, youll hurt yourself. Clean them with adhesive remover everytime after your done. Wash with mild soap and water at least every other time (i recommend toy cleaner from your local adult store)

-you might have to get a few different ones to figure out size. The size guide is generally pretty good.

unfortunately forms do not grow or shrink with you. If you like your look, and gain 15lbs, you might need different ones. Its a learning process for sure, and im here to help anyone here anytime.

Oh and once you figure out size and all, get a backup pair! They ARE fragile! If you poke a hole in them, or put extreme pressure, theyre done and you cant really repair them. My cats clawed mine one time when i didnt put them away quickly enough and i was devasted. Also get a good storage solution for them, especially if you have pets. I use a harbor freight pelican case knockoff.

Wow thats alot of text, sorry for the novel! Hope this helps anyone who does read it ❤️

Quick edit: this is all me using the cheapest forms on there, and theyre in all my pictures. I feel like im gonna grow my own, so i dont wanna spend thousands on them, mine are 90$ generally. Im not recommending the hugely expensive ones here

That is really helpful thank you! Not gunna lie it's alot, but it's really good information and I really appreciate it! I feel like I already have a solid foundation on how to use breast forms, and knowing I can reach out really helps.

No problem! Its better when we all share what works and what doesnt

i used a two bundled up socks and bra pads (to smooth it out) for 2 years before I started hrt loll, silicone inserts are probably a better idea but whatever works I passed with it in public for a while

Sometimes simplest is best, I knew that was a thing but tv and movies told me that wouldn't work. I was literally considering water balloons filled with pudding, as the 90s film 'Now and Later' advised me to. Thank you Nikki!

I haven't used the chicken cutlett style inserts, but silicone breast forms are great for occasional use, especially with medical adhesive. The other option I've been using are knitted knockers, which if you know how to knit or crochet, you can make for the cost of materials. They're good for day to day use because they let your skin breathe. With strategic placement, they can give a bit of a push up effect too, but that only started working for me once I had enough boob to push up on.

This sounds like a great excuse to learn knitting, thanks for the tip!

I will say, try some cheap yarn rather than one from their recommended list if you want to try knit or crochet breast forms for the first pair. If you end up not liking them, you've spent less on yarn, and cheap yarn is generally bigger than what they recommend, so it will take less rows and less time. I only crochet, so I'm not sure if you can do this with the knitted ones because they have a nipple, and you probably don't want to look like your're storing a peanut m&m in there 😆

LMFAO!!!! I will definitely keep this in mind, I honestly don't think I'll be able to forget it!

Mmmm not necessarily inserts to increase size, but I did use Cakes Body nipple covers in-place of a bra until super recently. They do have a volume version, but I'm not too familiar with it! I found them super convenient, easy to maintain/clean, and they honestly held in place much better than I expected! There were days (hot ones) where sweat would cause them to slip around, but that was mostly with the non-adhesive version.

I like how you're addressing this too! I remember having a conversation with my gf about how so many dresses and tops fit slightly odd on me, and she pointed out that many women's tops are designed to be worn with bras or to accommodate a particular type of breast shape. I tried those tops/dresses on with a bra, and was like ohhh I see it now!

[-] Nissa@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Thank you! I'll have to look at those as an option.

Yea, I'm not really looking to pass right now I just want the dress to be flattering and look right. I've had only a couple dresses earlier in life (which I sadly burned due to self doubt and an aggressive repression campaign) and one fit really well, while the other left something to be desired. Which really sucked, I loved the color and how the bottom half looked and flowed. The one I want now is just so lovely I can't not buy it but definitely looks like it will desire something.

I wore chicken cutlets for ~6 months. They were pretty easy and stayed in place just fine on their own (I got the kind that you can just rinse off with water and they restick. I think I spent like $40 on them. On the one hand, they let me wear stuff I couldn't otherwise at the time. On the other hand, they day I no longer felt I needed those (or a wig) was a very, very joyful day.

If you get them, make sure you wash them regularly, otherwise your skin might get kinda mad.

Wash them every day, got it! Thank you!

I bought a pair of "bra buds" from Unclockable that feel nice. (edit: I checked and they're available on Amazon if you don't want to order from Unclockable, however I recommend getting them directly so bezos doesn't get a cut)

I'm a heavier gal so I already had a little extra breast tissue to begin with, but they give me a nice lift with an underwire. They also fill a bralette quite nicely, especially if it has an insert pocket.

I am currently girlmoding (minus makeup, still no clue about that stuff) at the park with some LGBT friends and I took them out because it's a bit toasty and the sweat between the silicone and my skin isn't great. Antiperspirants from now on I guess... Sorry tmi...😳

I also have some foam "push up" bra cups from my spouse's "old bra" collection, I think it was a Victorias secret bra... Anyways I cut the straps off since they're too small for me anyway, and am using the foam cup as an insert. It gives me a 2 cup bump and feels natural, and everyone is assuring me it looks fine.

I also got told I look like a 2004 mom 😂

[-] Nissa@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I will definitely look into 'bra buds' and will try and find a bra or bralette with an insert pocket. I have a little bit to work with but definitely need a bump up. Don't worry about the tmi, that's the kind of information I need. A foam cup inset sounds comfy for sure.

Thank you so much!

I am still using my spouse's bras for the most part, and their chest is smaller than mine, so the stretchier sports bras allow me to kind of "pull myself in" and pinch a little cleavage together. It's not a lot, but it's enough to make a difference in form fitting clothes.

The foam WILL soak up sweat, so I wash them after every use where it heats up, just in case.

[-] Nissa@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Interesting, now I regret telling my wife to throw out her old bras last month lol. Dunno if they would have worked but maybe I would have gotten lucky. Oh well

[-] EggInDisguise 2 points 1 day ago

Lol I am just glad they're a bit of a pack-rat, and they've got a couple bags of "old clothes", some never worn, gifts etc, they've been meaning to donate, but once we found out about an LGBT group that hosts a "free market" where you basically bring donations (or not if you don't have any) and browse for things you might need. It's been pretty much a clothing swap for all the trans members lol

I'm just lucky they canceled the last two meetings, or I wouldn't have anything left. Sucks they canceled this month though, I would have loved to go. I've got a bunch of clothing I never plan on wearing and some of the transmascs in the group are close to my size, one of whom explicitly said they wanted to find some shorts like the ones I had on at the time.

Sorry I tend to ramble....

Maybe you could find a foam push up bra at a thrift store, and might be able to utilize it? Worth a try!

[-] Nissa@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Ramble away I love it! I will definitely check out the local thrifts and see if my town has similar clothes swap! Thanks again, you are being super helpful
