I was today years old when I realized this thing has a name and it is called "Hellmo".

Had a mostly successful glaze firing. Found some new glazes I'm satisfied with including a good midfire red that I've been questing for for a while now.

As you all know lemm.ee is shutting down. Since this community has all of like 4 posts mostly by me, I'm just going to let it close and try to move to !pottery@lemmy.world. It is even less active than here and I don't know the state of it's moderation but I'll try my future posts there for a while and if it doesn't work out maybe we can start the community again on a new instance (probably piefed.social).

The tankie try-not-to-be-a-raging-class-reductionist-queerphobe challenge: impossible.

I always got the sense when talking to class reductionist tankies that they were simply thinly veiling their bigotry and the "no war but class war" was just a way they could try to appeal to others while redirecting away from their own abhorrent beliefs. Just another example that tankies aren't really that different from MAGAts.

They want to bring together the working class of the left and the right but only on the social terms of the right since they know they can't challenge their bigotry and still win their votes. So instead they want us to shut up about our struggle for rights and only mention what they deem the "correct" struggle.

Decided to take a family photo of the pieces I accumulated (including a few a friend made) to fire in my bisque kiln (my first real firing with my own kiln) in case some didn't make it. I'm glad to say all the pieces survived and the next stage is glazing.

Half of the things they do in boot camp is just the drill instructor's kink.

I'm curious if anyone came to homesteading from a traditional career. How did you start? How much did land cost you? What are your monthly costs and do you have an income that can sustain them?

The reason they are cheap and dedicated is because they are desperate, living in a country where if they didn't have this job they would literally be starving and in poverty.

So CEOs like this are simply capitalizing on their desperation to save money from hiring domestic workers who have a better safety net. Absolutely disgusting pieces of trash.

Also why does this guy who looks like a 19 year old frat boy believe anyone should listen to his advice?

Racist woman calls a little autistic black boy the n-word and gets $300K as a reward from other racist hillbilly pieces of shit.

I’m looking into getting an instant camera. I was drawn to the Fujifilm Instax cameras but it looks like the instant film for it can come out to $2 a photo which is pretty expensive imo.

I want this to take small color photos for journaling/scrapbooking/logging and may need to take a lot of photos at once (i.e. logging results of glazes on a ton of test tiles).

Also I don’t really care if it’s true analog or a digital camera that just prints out, but it does need to be color.

Anyone have any good reccs?

Looking for something that is kind of whiteboardy-pinteresty way of creating idea boards from images, text, links, etc. that isn’t tied to a subscription and I have full control of. Any ideas?

I’m looking for something that is less linear than Obsidian, but I do like Obsidian a lot for other things.

Trump’s tariff reversal came after he watched an interview on Fox Business with JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, during which the bank boss said that a recession was a “likely outcome” of the new trade policies, according to the Washington Post.

Trump was asked by a reporter on Wednesday when he decided to put a pause on the tariffs.

“I would say this morning. Over the last few days, I’ve been thinking about it. Fairly early this morning,” he said.

I keep trying to learn to draw but I simply suck at it no matter what. I’d love to learn how to draw all kinds of things like architectural drawings, or cute designs, etc. But I can barely even copy something if I have the picture right in front of me.

I’d like to take a class that teaches the basics of drawing that I could follow along with using Procreate or something. Does anyone have good recommendations for someone who seems unable to gain any proficiency at drawing?

One of my life goals is to own an Airstream or something similar that I can renovate. However we live in an urban area with no place to park it. I do eventually want to own an acreage in a desirable place but that goal is much further off but I would like to start on my Airstream goal a little sooner.

The typical option is rent a space to park it. I can afford it but this feels like throwing money away especially since I have no control over the rent cost, if I'd get kicked out eventually, or maybe I just don't get around to working on the Airstream that often. The timeline of renting is indefinite also.

The other option is buying some land on the cheap if possible. This wouldn't be my dream land. Maybe just a lot somewhere I could park it. I would want to get rid of the land at some point to fund the purchase of my dream land and am wondering if there is some major risk to this? Or is it a good investment?

I'd imagine paying all cash for it.

Don't have to care about being unconstitutional if you're not part of the union.

They will find you and swarm if their "liberal senses" tingle from anywhere.

Found on a lemmy.zip post. These posts all happened within an hour of each other so there is definitely some coordination happening if not outright botting.

We often think lots of animals are cute. Do some animals think humans are cute?

The boomer crusade against alternative milks is one of the weirder forms of toxic masculinity and smacks of subservience to and brainwashing by the milk lobby.

They are both security risks. The difference is the SA oligarch has already successfully infiltrated our national security and installed himself in a position of power so we can't do anything about it anymore.

Honestly the way he did it was pretty perfect. Create technology and weapons and R&D for the country you want to infiltrate, ingratiate yourself to it's people, government, and military. Then start throwing money into politics to buy yourself a spot on the cabinet.

This is a game any bad state actor with a huge wad of cash can play thanks to Citizen's United.
