TikTok basically invented shorts. Maybe Snapchat.

That would be Vine

Exactly why my instance has downvotes disabled

Then maybe when you are talking to people in the future about this, you can talk about the differences in moderation styles in an objective way, talking about the types of things we disagree on, without loading it with terms like "over moderation" and "moderating by vibes" etc.

My moderation style hasn't changed, and predates 196. If it doesn't gel with your team, you can say that without making it my fault.

A daring show of acrobatics! (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

New camera in hand, we made a deal with some local gulls. We provide the chips if they pose for us so I can get some photos!

And didn't they oblige!

This fine gull is a Silver Gull (not a Herring Gull) from Australia, and you'll be pleased to know, the chip was caught!

Nicolás Mihanovich, an abandoned cruise ship sits moored on the bank of Rio Iguazú, Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, at the apex of the borders between Argentina, Paraguay and Brasil.

It was originally designed as a luxury ferry between Argentina and Uruguay, but plans were made to turn it in to a floating Casino. The plans stalled, and now the ship sits, largely abandoned

I wish they understood that they don't have to understand to accept.

Federation. I will never use centralised social media again...

Strange though, that when you ask most men how many dudes they've slept with suddenly, she's not a dude...

It's genuinely Die Hard. Calling it a Christmas movie used to be something I said for fun, but somewhere along the line, watching it at Christmas has become an actual tradition that I look forward to

Whatever they're experiencing, I have the opposite. It's the numbers and the data that keeps me interested and focused. It's learning to align what my body is telling me with what my watch is telling me.

If I lost access to smart watches, I'd probably not stay active

The admin Ada has been very helpful and I have faith in her to do the right thing

A pity then that one of your admins has thrown it all back in my face, with a public call out post currently pinned for all hexbear users to see.

I have done my best to make this work, and for all of my effort, I've had it thrown back in my face.

We were accussed of not addressing ableist behaviour. These actions in question occurred whilst I was in bed. Ultimately, I responded to them within 12 hours, removing the content in question and letting the person in question know that ableist language isn't acceptable.

A hexbear admin accused me of being non responsive for that 12 hour delay. Hexbear on the other hand, let a dogpile thread targetting a blahaj user stand for over 24 hours, despite having something like 3 times as many admins as we do. I understand why it took Hexbear time to respond to the dogpile thread, given how new federation was and how their existing rules didn't quite account for it. It's a pity that they don't offer the same courtesy and understanding in return, expecting response times that they can't live up to themselves.

A hexbear admin also accussed us of not addressing transphobia in 196, referring to a specific event that occurred around a month ago. Despite finding that incident (that occured in a post that was removed before they were even federating with us) they somehow missed the very public post I made in response calling out transphobic behaviour and making the community expectations clear. A post that was pinned to 196, has over 400 replies and that you can still see right here https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/1105166.

Similarly, one of their admins implied that they were unable to have good faith conversations with Blahaj admin staff. A position that is at odds with the messaging I received from the hexbear admin I have been communicating with, who sent me a message 4 hours ago that ended with "Thank you very much for your time, effort, patience, and perspective during these past few days"

To be clear, what I asked for, was that the direct contents of a DM not be shared without the other parties permission. You can absolutely summarise the contents of the discussion.

To be clear, it is not CSAM. It is legal porn deliberately designed to look like CSAM

I'm an admin for a relatively busy instance, so I see all of the bigotry, and there is more of it than I'm comfortable with :\

There's a lot of bigots out there that have moved over from reddit.
