This particular headache happened awhile ago, I'm much better at the vetting process nowadays then I used to be.

Basically remembering to mention that I'm bi before activities happen.

EDITED to add alt text (I've only done this a few times (in particular for art I've done) so I'm not too good at it with memes)

It recently occurred to me that I identify as bi but everyone I've dated has been nonbinary. So I've never been with a man or woman lol.

[-] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

I dated a bi girl. I didn't particularly care who she was sleeping with before or after me, so long as she wasn't sleeping with anyone else while she was with me.

[-] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

I've dated monogamous bi women and I've dated poly bi women.

Strong preference for the poly bi women.

[-] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

It's not my thing, cool if that works for you.

Yeah it seems like there's a shocking amount of "telling people their preferences" in the LGBT community. I had a girlfriend who insisted I wasn't straight just because she had a penis. As if her getting bottom surgery would have retroactively certified me as straight again.

Like anyone who tells people something that only that person can know for themself, it's usually more about their need to be comfortable within some unresolved dissonance they have, rather than wanting to help resolve something for you.

that's a super weird take for her. like pre-op Blaire White or smth

[-] OmegaMouse@pawb.social 52 points 1 day ago

Why are people so obsessed with creating categories and boxes? Just have sex with people you like lol

[-] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 hours ago

That would be queer and not lgbt. Can't be done, woukd never get funding. Sorry.

[-] Cevilia 29 points 1 day ago

Sex with consenting people you hate can be fun too if you're into that~

[-] Sas@beehaw.org 13 points 1 day ago

In general: Because the current status quo is that people assume straight as the default thus we show pride in our sexuality and label it so the following generation knows that it's ok the not be straight.

In the context of this meme: gold star gays are weird enough to not consider people gay if they had straight sex in the past even if they realized that they don't like straight relationships/sex for themselves. So I pay them no mind.

[-] OmegaMouse@pawb.social 1 points 20 hours ago

Yeah I guess it's the difference between inclusive categories ("me and my friends are gay yippeee") and exclusive ("you have to have had only sex with guys")

I'm all for labelling if it's for pride :3

[-] kartoffelsaft@programming.dev 18 points 1 day ago

I swear, a lot of gay dudes just don't have "bisexual" in their vocabulary. Like they don't stop to think that maybe "hey, any straight guys around here like the thought of making another man cum?" reads like "hey bachelors, hows the wife doin?" to anyone who knows what words mean?

Like, I can get there being some fetishization/roleplay around "converting" a straight guy gay. But that's never the angle. They just use the word straight like they know everyone on earth wants to suck their dick.

[-] turdcollector69@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

There's crazy pressure to conform.

It really is like: "If you can't be straight then be gay but you can never ever cross the lines or be ambiguous."

It's such a stupid and self-limiting way of thinking

There's also platinum star gay people, who never went through the birth canal.

Also, OP, you might wanna ad alt text.

[-] yetAnotherUser@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 8 hours ago

There should be super-platinum star gay people who were birthed by a trans man.

[-] birdwing 3 points 3 hours ago

Without going through a birth canal either. I think that that's gotta be an achievement.

[-] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 hours ago

Onlu for gay men, but yes.

[-] birdwing 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Don't you temporarily need to go off T if you undergo pregnancy as a trans man? Is there then still no chance for having girls?

[-] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 day ago

Jotaro Joestar was apparently a C-section.

[-] Gormadt 9 points 1 day ago

I added alt text, how would you say I did? I've only ever done that for art I've done so it's odd to have done it with memes and I'm open to improving on my alt-text-game.

[-] birdwing 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Pretty great, even just adding it is awesome :)

Though I'd just say Spiderman says (text...) rather than having the text on them, it's more concise.

Best is if it fits within 250 characters and focuses on what's relevant in the depiction, in order to understand the image.

[-] Gormadt 7 points 1 day ago

Happy to hear that I did a good job on it :)

And thanks for the suggestions!

Common LG~~BTQ+~~ L.

[-] Gladaed@feddit.org 14 points 1 day ago

What is a golden star gay?

[-] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 31 points 1 day ago

A gay who sold 500,000 copies

[-] Gormadt 29 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

A "gold star gay" is ~~a ~~guy~~ who has never had sex with a woman.~~

EDIT: Specifically a gay guy who has never had sex with a woman.

[-] luciole@beehaw.org 4 points 1 day ago

its that hymen shit all over again

I love that correction. I didn't even consider it until I saw it 😂

[-] SchadeMarmelade@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago

Thanks for the clarification, I guess I won't be able to call me a gold star😔

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
