Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Donāt be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Donāt waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but donāt tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Donāt perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we donāt want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they havenāt been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like āthis statement can be considered transphobicā rather than āyou are being transphobicā.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You donāt get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
Dont kink-shame, kink-question
Why do people like feet? I feel like this isn't studied enough.
I'm not into feet myself, but I sort of get it. Most bodyparts that are fetishized have ways of signaling physical, mental, and sexual health. Collectively, that's physical attraction in a nutshell. Secondary sexual characteristics are the obvious ones, but consider where a person's mind is if they have good hair and teeth? What is suggested by nice looking skin, or have laugh lines instead of a furrowed brow? Feet - well, you have to be in pretty good health and on top of self-care to have nice looking feet. Surely, that's gotta be meaningful to someone.
I feel like feet has already been extensively studied as a fetish. The foot-brain connection, Jules' treaties' on Foot Massages, and the popularized roll of feet in sexuality since... I dunno, forever? have made it the least taboo taboo out there.
What if my kink is kink-shaming?
Then (as allways) you ASK for consent before doing it :3
What if my kink is asking for consent?
Then you become a bluesky moderator
Don't kink shame before you try it
Just to be clear I don't agree with or like Jimmy savile. He's a terrible monster. There are good reasons not to try his kinks before you shame them.
(SA warning. Evil person warning.)
Never heard of him.
I wanted to post a paste from Wikipedia on him, but it's kinda too specific.
He's a.... dead guy, now, that while he was alive was just sexually assaulting...everybody? Jfc
Wikipedia: "In June 2014, investigations into Savile's activities at 28 NHS hospitals concluded that he had sexually assaulted staff and patients aged between 5 and 75 over several decades.[17] As a result of the scandal, some of the honours that Savile was awarded during his career were posthumously revoked and his television appearances are no longer shown. "
After reading more on this, it seems like British culture REALLY likes/liked respectability politics and outright protected this guy until he died.
Still reading... holy fuck.
Okay, I finished the section on abuse. For anybody that hasn't and isn't going to read the wiki entry....god, where do I start....
He was a guy born just before ww2, and i think was a dj at bbc for a long time and seen as a philanthropist and worked with hospitals and schools and children until his death. While he was alive, there were a few people that tried to make charges of SA against him, but all were thrown out. After he died in 2011, for the next few years, everything was unearthed about him and police investigations and everybody talked. Everybody knew he was a rapist, a pedo, a necro, and an actual psychopath.
Jesus Christ I just woke up and checked my phone and read this.... I need to go take a shower. I feel unclean.

Bit of context from a Brit: He is extremely well known. Back in the day he was just regarded as cheeky. A bit of a perve but shrugged it off by being likeable.
After his death it all came out and he's now the poster child for hiding sex crimes with fame. He's 100% hated by everybody, I've never heard a single person defend him.
Yeah, that's the guy.
well because kink and assault are different things. Even if you have a CNC kink, the first C is the important part.
Computerized!
Finally, computerized non consent.
ai chatbots being kink shamed by the one who had that kink to kink shame... Only that the ai chatbot can have thousands of chats going on so they just start practicing their kinks with us..
