I got a new PC and felt dirty at the thought of installing windows on it. So I never did. Linux ever since.

Another problem is that cosmic expansion affects the wire itself.

Not if its mithril :P

Yep. People can and obviously are swayed by Musks transphobia. But they're not swayed because he comes up with a singular definition they agree with. They're swayed because his pattern of exclusion is designed to stoke fear. The successive anti trans comments, the support from other bigots, and the fear narratives all tell people they should be nervous about trans folk. And then the messages keep coming, and the uncertainty changes to fear.

Which is to say, celebrating a "gotcha" in a transphobes wording, might feel good in the moment, but pointing out the contradiction doesn't make any meaningful difference to people who are already feeling that fear and anxiety.

There was a tiny amount of light, enough for me to use manual focus to find the right focus point. And once I did that, I just did a long exposure (1 second in this case)

1 second would be WAY too long for most birds, because they don't sit still, but Frogmouths are ambush predators, that sit perfectly still for hours on end until prey comes close. Also, the lens and the camera body are image stabalised, so I was able to hand hold the camera (with great care) to make it all work.

It depends what you mean. Individual instances have their own approach to moderation, which influences what you will see and have access to. Some are more hands off than others. But if your "free speech" is really just looking for a free pass to hate on folk, then you won't have much luck with lemmy. There are instances that allow that, but most other instances block them.

17 stops of dynamic range! Apparently, D-Log.M surpasses the dynamic range of D-Log, and employs some sort of DJI secret sauce when you enable auto ISO mode rather than setting it manually!

If you use Darktable for your image editing, and you have tried using a recent DJI drone, you'll have found that Darktable can't open DNG files from these drones.

However, there is a way around it! You can use the Adobe DNG Converter (which runs fine in WINE), and re-save your DNG file to be compatible with Camera RAW 13.2. After this, it will work fine in Darktable.

The notable exception to this is the Mini 4 Pro, which isn't compatible for an entirely different reason that this approach doesn't fix

Something died in our old server, so Kaity is currently in the process of moving and rebuilding lemmy on a new server. Sorry for the unplanned disruption!
