Hey folks — I’m currently looking to potentially transfer ownership of this community.

I originally created it to help bring people together and hopefully serve as a space for folks migrating from r/QueerDefenseFront.

It’s been great seeing it take shape, but lately I’ve found myself stretched thin — I moderate a ton of other communities here on Blahaj and across Lemmy, and it’s become a bit much to manage.

My Mental Health has taken a dive, as well.

To be clear: I’m not leaving! I still plan to post, comment, Moderate, and stay active — I just don’t have the time, energy, or capacity to continue owning the community.

If you’re interested in potentially taking on ownership, and helping guide the space forward, feel free to reach out via commenting down below.

Solidarity and thanks 💜✊🏳️‍🌈

Hey comrades,

Quick post to say: I’m currently looking for more moderators to help run this space.

I started this community with the goal of building a strong, supportive, and resilient community for queer folks — especially those who believe in organizing, mutual aid, and standing up for one another, as well as (hopefully) bring r/Queerdefensefront to the Fediverse, in case something happens/happened to the Subreddit.

But right now, I’m stretched pretty thin.

I’m already moderating a bunch of other communities across Blahaj and other instances, and it’s getting a bit overwhelming.

My Mental Health isn't doing so good, either.

If you're down to help keep this space active, safe, and focused, I’d really appreciate it.

You don’t need tons of experience — just a commitment to the values of the community and a willingness to check in when you can.

Feel free to comment below, if you're interested or want to know more.

Solidarity always ✊🏽 – Teknevra

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone that this space is open for ALL of us to share our thoughts, experiences, and discussions. As the creator and a mod here, I want to assure you that there is no gatekeeping. Everyone, whether you're a user or a fellow mod, is encouraged to post freely.

I've noticed that I'm often the only one posting, and while there ARE comments, it would be wonderful to see more activity from all of you. Your voices and perspectives are what make this community vibrant, so don't hesitate to start a conversation or share something you think is important.

Let's work together to make this space as lively and supportive as it can be!

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing more posts!

The website was created by a trans woman who had been held in a conversion institution for several months from last year through early this year. It went live in early April. Before it was taken down, it had collected 21 accounts submitted by survivors or their friends describing their experiences at such facilities, and — with the help of several volunteers involved in rescuing conversion institution victims — had compiled information on over 900 discipline schools across 17 provinces using publicly available sources.

On the morning of April 15 (Beijing time), police came to the website creator’s door, and the original website ( https://victimsunion.org/ ) was forced offline.

NCT(No-Conversion-Therapy) Shutdown Notice: The reason is that the site administrator’s home was house raided by Shanghai police, and the website was forcibly ordered to shut down on the grounds that it involved exploitation by foreign forces. The site administrator was forcibly expelled from her current residence. A key team member has been missing for more than ten days. I has received warnings and been followed in recent days, and is temporarily suspending online activity.

The person who posted this tweet is Muyuan, a volunteer who assists victims of conversion institutions. He have since deactivated his Twitter account. The phrase “house raid” (抄家) was a misreading that arose during hurried communication due to the sudden nature of events; a clarification appears below.

#NCT — NCT Project Closure Notice

Due to certain force majeure circumstances, NCT.project will be suspending service indefinitely. The sale of the domain name is underway. Decisions regarding the source code repository and data handling will be discussed internally within the community; specific arrangements will be announced in follow-up notices.

This post is from the website creator.

Announcement:

I, along with the volunteers on the team and additional volunteers who cannot disclose their identities, will continue our actions against conversion institutions, as well as anti-domestic violence work, emergency shelter provision, and other rescue operations. If you need help, please gather evidence as best you can and reach out to me. (You can contact me and the volunteers through the Telegram channel linked in my profile and through the website.)

Timeline

Approximately ten days ago, a core volunteer involved in the “Huhang Case” (护航案) (a discipline school operating as a conversion institution in Xi’an/Hebei — searchable on online platforms) lost contact with us; their friends indicated we should not try to reach them again.

On the evening of the 14th, Muyuan said he might be dealing with a difficult situation, and then went quiet for a period.

On the morning of the 15th, the administrator of the original “NO Conversion Therapy” (NCT) project website had her door forcibly broken down and her home searched by police from a certain district of a certain city, and was ordered to shut down the website and forbidden from residing in that jurisdiction. (Correction: “My door was not broken down. I was at a hotel at the time — police came to find me there. ‘Breaking down the door’ is a rumor. The volunteer who assisted me was summoned at their place of residence.”)

On the evening of the 15th, Muyuan briefly lost contact with us, explicitly stated he would only reach out if absolutely necessary, and then went completely dark across the internet (X, WeChat, etc.).

At this point, the crackdown against comrades who share our goals and walk the same path as us has achieved a stage of partial success — it may not yet be over, but we will continue nonetheless.

“In the place where there is no darkness, we shall meet again.”

This tweet (image 1) was stopped by me before it was posted — at the time I had not yet realized how serious the situation had become.

This post is from another member of the website team.

Currently, someone living abroad has used a backup of the website’s data (made before it was taken down) to set up a browse-only mirror site: https://victimsunion.se/

From The Associated Press:

The Trump administration agreed Monday to keep flying a rainbow Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument, reversing course after removing the banner in February.

The government revealed the decision as it seeks to settle a lawsuit filed by LGBTQ+ and historic preservation groups who had sought to block the removal. A judge must still approve the agreement.

According to court papers, the Interior Department and National Park Service “have confirmed their intention to maintain a Pride flag at Stonewall.” It won’t be removed, except for “maintenance or other practical purposes.”

Democratic State Senator James Skoufis introduced legislation on April 6 that would let New Yorkers sue mental health professionals who perform conversion therapy. After a U.S. Supreme Court decision altered the legal landscape around “sexual orientation change efforts,” S9817 would let survivors seek financial damages in civil court.

Here's hoping that it passes.

“When three transgender women attended Perth Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 26 March court security allegedly told them they should not use the women’s bathroom.

“The women were at the court, two of them there to support a third friend who had been the victim of an alleged transphobic assault. They were shocked when they were allegedly approached by court security and told they should not use the women’s toilet facilities.

“The Department of Justice has now launched an internal investigation into the incident after the women filed an official complaint.”

“One of the women told us that before heading into the courtroom, they ducked into the bathroom, which had two stalls. A woman was washing her hands at the sink as they entered. As one stall was occupied, one woman used the vacant stall while the other waited.

“‘When I came out to wash my hands, my friend was in the second stall, which had become vacant. Then I left the bathroom and waited just outside,’ the first woman shared.

“When the second woman exited the bathroom, the pair were approached by court security, who asked them to ensure that in future they used a different unisex bathroom further down the hallway.

“The two women were told there had been a complaint from someone who felt uncomfortable with their presence in the women’s bathroom.”

“Later, all three women spoke to security staff on the ground floor of the building to highlight that their actions potentially breached the state’s anti-discrimination laws.

“‘I spoke to them about the legality of what they had done at that point,’ one of the trio told us. ‘After that, they said they ‘didn’t have the facilities to deal with this kind of situation’.’ She said the comment left her dumbstruck.”

“Sam Gibbings, CEO of Transfolk WA, said the alleged conduct of the security team is unacceptable. Transfolk WA’s mission is to inform, empower, and advocate for trans and gender diverse people to survive and thrive in Western Australia.

“‘There is a bitter irony in being subject to discrimination inside a building dedicated to justice. . . . Accessing a bathroom is a fundamental human right, not a privilege to be negotiated with a security guard.’”
