Hey folks — I’m currently looking to potentially transfer ownership of this community.

I originally created it to help bring people together and hopefully serve as a space for folks migrating from r/QueerDefenseFront.

It’s been great seeing it take shape, but lately I’ve found myself stretched thin — I moderate a ton of other communities here on Blahaj and across Lemmy, and it’s become a bit much to manage.

My Mental Health has taken a dive, as well.

To be clear: I’m not leaving! I still plan to post, comment, Moderate, and stay active — I just don’t have the time, energy, or capacity to continue owning the community.

If you’re interested in potentially taking on ownership, and helping guide the space forward, feel free to reach out via commenting down below.

Solidarity and thanks 💜✊🏳️‍🌈

Hey comrades,

Quick post to say: I’m currently looking for more moderators to help run this space.

I started this community with the goal of building a strong, supportive, and resilient community for queer folks — especially those who believe in organizing, mutual aid, and standing up for one another, as well as (hopefully) bring r/Queerdefensefront to the Fediverse, in case something happens/happened to the Subreddit.

But right now, I’m stretched pretty thin.

I’m already moderating a bunch of other communities across Blahaj and other instances, and it’s getting a bit overwhelming.

My Mental Health isn't doing so good, either.

If you're down to help keep this space active, safe, and focused, I’d really appreciate it.

You don’t need tons of experience — just a commitment to the values of the community and a willingness to check in when you can.

Feel free to comment below, if you're interested or want to know more.

Solidarity always ✊🏽 – Teknevra

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone that this space is open for ALL of us to share our thoughts, experiences, and discussions. As the creator and a mod here, I want to assure you that there is no gatekeeping. Everyone, whether you're a user or a fellow mod, is encouraged to post freely.

I've noticed that I'm often the only one posting, and while there ARE comments, it would be wonderful to see more activity from all of you. Your voices and perspectives are what make this community vibrant, so don't hesitate to start a conversation or share something you think is important.

Let's work together to make this space as lively and supportive as it can be!

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing more posts!

The SEGM is the "Society for Evidence based Gender Medicine", a pseudo-scientific think tank, which produces anti-trans """studies""" which are then spread through the international anti-trans networks and serve as justification for their activities. Thus the SEGM is one of the key pillars of the international anti-trans activities.

Because I haven't seen any news about the SEGM's congress, I am spreading it to as many groups I know, in order to make people aware of the matter.

In this powerful courtroom scene, attorney Alan Shore defends a judge who paid $40,000 to a religious rehab facility hoping to "cure" himself of his homosexuality—presented as "Same Sex Attraction Disorder" (SSAD). The religious organization fails, and Shore's sharp legal and moral argument dismantles the claim that homosexuality is a disease.

He critiques how religion and societal prejudices have pathologized homosexuality, turning it into something supposedly curable for political and financial gain. Shore’s closing argument speaks to the broader injustice of treating gay people as less than human—comparing such labeling to viewing them as the flu. Ultimately, he underscores that no sense of conventional sick role applies to being gay, and that paying to "fix" that is not only futile but demeaning.

Context and Importance

Episode Origin: The clip is from Season 3, Episode 14 of Boston Legal, titled "Selling Sickness", which aired in February 2007.

Plot Significance: The episode centers on exposing and satirizing the absurd notion of "curing" homosexuality, pointing out the harms of labeling sexual orientation as a pathology.

Over the past month, California Governor Gavin Newsom has been making headlines for all the right reasons: he's led an effort to respond to Texas Republicans' push to further gerrymander their state, used his profile to pressure Border Patrol and ICE, and found a very effective-and hilarious-way to get under Trump's skin through his Press Office's parodies of the president's writing style. All of these actions have catapulted him to national stardom, where he's taken on the role of leading the fight against the Trump administration.

However, to the trans community, his rise only brings fear. Because before these developments, he was trying to win over potential voters in a very different way: by abandoning the LGBTQ+ community.

In the United States, California has long had a reputation. And not just for its stereotyped sunny weather, surfer culture, and affluent, snobby culture, but for its liberal politics as well. California Democrats are synonymous-especially in more Republican-leaning areas-with the liberal style of politics conservatives detest. It's so difficult to overcome that despite California's large population and plethora of Democratic figures with a national profile, of the three presidents from California, none of them have been Democrats.

Evidently, Newsom is facing an uphill battle. So he's set off to appear more palatable to conservatives, starting with LGBTQ+ issues. Beginning in 2024, he started attempting to suppress pro-LGBTQ+ bills while they were still in the legislature in order to keep him from having to either veto them-losing progressives-or sign them-angering conservatives. Then, he went public with his new opinions during a conversation with Charlie Kirk on his podcast earlier this year, calling trans athletes' participation in girls' and women's sports 'deeply unfair.' And more recently, he signalled he changed his stance on gender-affirming care for minors as well.
