The character of god is basically the ultimate shape shifter. For a being capable of shaping reality with just a thought, I gotta think such a being would be in a pretty constant phase of modifying itself, not just it's reality.

I used to do exactly this when referring to the generic all-being (as opposed to the Abrahamic god who has a history and a feminine consort), since biological sex is specific to individual species. Also, the X-gamete is the default. The Y-gamete is a weird shortened appendix.
Technically, they/them would be more appropriate in this gender-conscious era. It works better for the holy trinity as well, but that's a post-biblical addition to the Christian dogma.
They/them would be more accurate since the god from the Bible is a mixture of different bronze age gods. Did you notice how God is something shown as bloodthirsty and sometimes as benevolent? That is because they took myths and stories from different gods.
I mean, Roman Catholicism and offshoots have a "main God" which was just a Nazarene man so calling him a woman is at least just inaccurate. The Creator, the one Jesus prayed to, has no sex (even if He is used often, although They is used as well), being a somewhat incomprehensible being and not a sexually reproducing, dimorphic animal, lol.
In the mythology he can't be a man, he never received a Y chromosome from Joseph. Maybe he received that from the father-god? Or he was XO (Turner Syndrome). Could Jesus have been biologically/reproductively female but used male pronouns? Was Jesus trans? Based if true.

But it's not consistent. I read the sermon on the mount, Jesus consistently refers to god with masculine language. So Jesus's god seems to be male, while other authors had other ideas.
This was one of my favorite parts:

Let's apply that logic to Jesus himself. By the fruits of Jesus (his failed predictions and the horrors that christianity has wrought in his name), we know he was a false prophet. By every available measure, prophets do not exist. Anyone can try to predict the future, especially if they're vague about it. Those who have chosen to "believe" in advance ignore the misses and exaggerate the hits.
Does it matter? They'll care.

Like many languages, languages of the Bible like Hebrew and Greek have grammatical genders. The aspect of God that smites things is grammatically male. The aspect of God that conveys spiritual strength - usually translated as "the Holy Spirit" - is grammatically female. Progressive movements of Protestantism and Judaism see God as both genders: one of the two creation stories in Genesis states God created man AND woman in God's image. The focus on the male aspect of God, and the second creation story in Genesis with the rib thing, is a conservative movement hang-up and not a general religion thing.
Of course the male part just smites things...
