Yeah, there's another one not marked that's been up for hours. "Tulsi Gabbard to be Director of National Security." Yeah, okay. Funny joke.

For the uninformed, this is funny (and sarcasm) because there's mountains of evidence of them together. Besides, you know, picking him for AG. But he tries this defense all the time anyway, and people actually believe it.

Just like explicitly Trump calling up members of Congress to kill the bipartisan border bill, and then blaming the Democrats for not passing a border bill. They sold that one on the campaign trail too, and it worked.

They don't like algorithms. They want you to select which content you see.

That's all I've got. Mastodon is a better, more open tech. And it's pretty easy to get set up, relatively. It's insane that companies haven't jumped on it.

You don't even have to quit Twitter. You can just post to more than one place and give people the option.

Blockchain is effectively a distributed database. Almost always a good centralized database functions better.

Needing everything to be a class

In 2015 they added scripting. If you're making a real project, you should absolutely use classes. (It's not that hard. Don't do the Java shit.) But you can absolutely write one off scripts just fine.

AOT support is still lacking.

Publishing your app as Native AOT produces an app that's self-contained and that has been ahead-of-time (AOT) compiled to native code. Source.

C# is nearly the same, but much, much better.

  • It doesn't (usually) come with the Java culture 8 layers of abstraction. This isn't in the Java language. This isn't in OO. Yet nearly every Java programmer makes things way more complicated than it needs to be.
  • It's a prettier language. Similar syntax with less bullshit.
  • It's open source
  • It's still multiplatform. Modern dotnet / C# works on anything.
  • Both Visual Studio and Visual Studio code are great IDEs that blow Eclipse out of the water
  • It's one of the most common business languages.
  • It's going to be supported forever.

If I could restrict the world of programming to two languages, it'd be C# and Rust. C# for most things and Rust for a lower level language.

I think Italian and Irish are now acceptable. Maybe choose one of those.

feel free to wow them with contactless payments

This is quite dated. Per Forbes, "Nearly 90% of U.S. consumers now use contactless payments, "

Tip at restaurants where they take your order at the table and bus your table, 15-20% of the total. Absolutely don't tip at those kiosks at the counter. They'll beg for a tip because software. You're absolutely fine to hit skip or custom 0. Don't normalize that shit.

You need millions of votes across several states, not a few thousand. If they were going to steal this election, it was going to be through the courts.

Selling what data? It's already public.

Youth church functions were always more depraved than anything agnostic.

But something like $7 for premium without ads is absolutely sustainable. But, you know, line go up more.

Patch 14.22 Preview (lemmy.world)

David Turley @RiotPhreak

Patch 14.22 full preview. This patch we hope to put the systems in place that will make mid assassins more functional and more balanceable going forward. We’re finishing our work on first-slot ADC items. The rest of this patch is small-scale balance aimed at solo queue outliers.

Shiv: A redesign to give ADCs less “random” chip damage while still being an early wave clear item. No more ARAM pentas.

Yun Tal: Scaling first-slot AD-Crit item. It’s meant to be weaker than Collector/ER on purchase but outscale them as auto-crit champs fit that power curve.

Smite: You can still smite “around” an epic to get it despite body-blocking. This tuning mitigates issues for players who smite the ground right after a Voidgrub dies, causing them to smite another one in the camp. Will now only happen if they’re packed close together.

Katarina: Lowering her need to wait for later levels in order to reach high mobility. Also this R CD should give her a lot more laning power.

Kayle: Bring up her late game carry potential, simple as that. She should be the best late game top carry on average.

Rumble: No pro on this patch means no more pro jail. He already deals more than enough damage in early lane, so we choose durability for the low-mobility melee champion.

Swain: Trying to mostly buff his base kit and provide both damage and durability since he should have both.

An Update on How We're Evolving League - Tryndamere @MarcMerrill Twitter

Hey all,

I want to share some important updates about @leagueoflegends PC. We’ve made changes to our teams and how we work to make sure we can keep improving the League experience now and for the long-term. But I want to be clear: we’re not slowing down work on the game you love. We’re investing heavily in solving today’s challenges faster while also building for the future.

As part of these changes, we’ve made the tough decision to eliminate some roles. This isn’t about reducing headcount to save money—it’s about making sure we have the right expertise so that League continues to be great for another 15 years and beyond. While team effectiveness is more important than team size, the League team will eventually be even larger than it is today as we develop the next phase of League. For Rioters who are laid off, we’re supporting them with a severance package that includes a minimum of six months' pay, annual bonus, job placement assistance, health coverage, and more.

We have full confidence in @RiotMeddler, @RiotPabro, and the League leadership team, who are leading the charge in this next phase of League’s journey, and we look forward to sharing more about our ambitious plans in the future.

Thank you all for playing and for being part of the League community.

Marc

He also added:

While we're on the subject of team size, I want to talk a little about both size and budget, and why they aren’t the right way to measure whether a team will be successful. We’ve definitely been memed in the past for talking about budgets, and rightly so. Success isn’t about throwing more people or money at a challenge. We’ve seen small teams at Riot (and elsewhere) build incredible things, while large teams (both at Riot and elsewhere) miss the mark.

While the League team will ultimately be larger after these changes, what matters more than size is having the right team, right priorities, and a sustainable approach to delivering what players need. If we’re solving the wrong problems, more resources won’t fix it. It’s about building smarter and healthier, not just bigger.
