maybe this sparks the lemmy algorithm more than drawing posts? this one looks like a poorly edited repost from reddit, so maybe my chances are better.

anyway, happy for yall -

im too lonely to rationally be making posts like this... one more month. then the study period is over and friend time may begin.

next time ill make a post that looks like a twitter screenshot but its actually me farming the algo-

yesyes i know lemmy doesnt have algo but it sure feels like it... LEMMY WORLD USERS!!! >;(

i sepcifically didnt put the "made by... with..." cuz maybe that triggers the minds of the redditors.

EDIT: whoopsie daisy forgot to put alt image

Also Lemmy peeps: your choice in operating system is all that matters.

[-] idegenszavak@sh.itjust.works 27 points 4 weeks ago

If it's not Linux it doesn't really matter

[-] ramasses@social.ozymandias.club 23 points 4 weeks ago

Except ubuntu, we dont accept ubuntu.

[-] SnotFlickerman 15 points 4 weeks ago

I use Ubuntu to trigger the Arch nerds.

[-] ignotum@lemmy.world 5 points 4 weeks ago

How does that work?

I use arch btw

[-] SnotFlickerman 9 points 4 weeks ago

I dunno, but everyone seems to hate Ubuntu and while I sort of understand why, snaps aren't impossible to avoid. Kubuntu even has it as an easy option with their minimal install that doesn't include snaps at all. Alls I know is people hate on Ubuntu and I just don't feel like distro hopping and I've had stable Ubuntu servers for far longer than I've been using it for desktop. I just don't see a real good reason to switch.

[-] erinmeow@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 weeks ago

i use nixos btw to show to any non nix rollbacking distro, how its never break, but isnt because using debian stable but using master branch of nixpkgs, and any update never broke system uwuw, i just can rollback to working system generation, and fix that i broke or just redo update

(bootloader updates can still sux huh, but actually we can pin bootloader package to specific version uwuwuwu)

also guix is fun too!!! but its originally based on nix

[-] erinmeow@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 weeks ago

i want todo that functionallity irl........ just rollback to working properly generation of world, did something wrong - rollback, u raped - rollback

[-] Martineski@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 weeks ago

did something wrong - rollback, u raped - rollback

This took me so off guard that I had to reread the comment around 5 times to make sure I'm not having a stroke...

[-] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 weeks ago

If you ain't rich or pretty, you better be Lemmyful.

[-] SnotFlickerman 19 points 4 weeks ago

I was writing a top level comment here an hour ago or more and for some reason it didn't post. Sad.

I just love your normal posts though! I want more of your unique style with your name on it. I don't usually feel like I have anything worthwhile to say about them, but I always upvote them when I see them!

Please don't stop with your own unique style, your art deserves to be seen.

[-] Smorty 10 points 3 weeks ago

thank u very much, but have u seen the like count difference between this post and my recent post? if not, here it is:

like counts compared

its the highest it has been since 19 days, and that 19 days post was about jumping on trains-

i appreciate your comment but the lemmy world losers dont appreciate my usual posts - so it feels kinda weird.

wont stop making things any time soon, but may make more posts specifically about that difference. the idea of the fake twitter screenshot i really like actually.

[-] lime@feddit.nu 15 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

ma'am, you've been accused of getting depressed by number not go up instead of being happy that people here love you. how do you plead?

[-] Smorty 6 points 3 weeks ago

plead? like..... like pleading?... okay

pleeeeeeease dont think of me as like-dependant, im TotallyNotLikeDependant.

ummm... i now looked up what that "plead" actually means. sooo -

not guilty.

i am not guilty of ..... getting sad over numbers not being up.... okay no, thats false.

for your specific question, i think yea i am. but maybe "depressed" is a bit harsh. like - thats a strong word for being disappointed, u see?

so, not really.

not guilty, even if yes, i am disappointed a bit when i see my drawn OC posts underperforming literal twitter screenshots and reddit reposts.

i think that puts it well.

[-] TotallynotJessica 4 points 3 weeks ago

What I've come to realize about reposts and screenshots are that they're only the best of the best. Only the most exceptional posts and comment threads are worth sharing, and only the best of those get popular and reposted. Most of the posts those randos make don't get as much attention, and I'm sure the ones they find the funniest aren't the ones that go viral.

The highest quality work isn't grown perfect from the start, but cut back and added to multiple times, ideally by multiple people with different perspectives. For memes, it isn't worth it to go through too many drafts, as your post still might not land regardless of what you do. If you accept that many of them won't make it, you can throw stuff at the wall until something sticks.

[-] lime@feddit.nu 2 points 3 weeks ago

right! don't compare your average with other people's high scores.

[-] Smorty 2 points 3 weeks ago

i know - siiiiiiigh i know. this is a - a - a BATTLE ROYALE and not annart museum. we r trynna impress, get peeps to enjoy a thing and yesyes have them like the post thats what we r here for-

we are here for the high quality funnies... fine. but then what am i doing here? at that point im just postin stuff like - on a blog? but put smol bit more effort. which i guess is fine. bzt it feels weird.

but yeeeeeeeeeea fine yeayea ur right and stuff and also yea fair contributing to the bubble economics makes sense here iguess... siiiiigh - - - - triple sigh........

fair. fine. grumbles furiously

Loving the cute gay people on blåhaj is all that matters :3

[-] TotallyWorthLife@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Why not the ones outside, we exist too :c

[-] TotallynotJessica 3 points 3 weeks ago

so long as they sometimes go on blåhaj, it's fine if they're outdoors

[-] Primor@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

Nothing else matters🤘

[-] Beehaw_Girl@beehaw.org 5 points 3 weeks ago

And then there are us Pretty Rich Lemmy peeps: We truly have it ALL!!

[-] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

It's more like rich people say their life is also hard and that money isn't everything, pretty people saying the same but with looks, and Lemmy people saying a bit more money and having a bit more looks sure would help a lot in life.

[-] Smorty 2 points 3 weeks ago

yesyes ur right here, i was making a play on the whole "rich people: money doesnt matter" thing... or the "u dont as a man his salery" or whatever-

but ye in reality ur right

[-] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

So you mean to say Lemmy people would say "love doesn't matter"? Because I would argue otherwise. In general people on Lemmy are complaining there isn't enough love and compassion in the modern world, and too much hate and fear.

I think it was the Beatles who said "All you need is Love!", but then people kept dying of cold and starvation. /s

[-] froufox 4 points 3 weeks ago

idk i see a lot of pretty people around and nobody say "looks is all that matter", they're kind and cute

[-] umbraroze@slrpnk.net 3 points 3 weeks ago

Everyone on every Internet forum ever: arguing about trivial things is the only thing that could possibly matter, debate me

[-] nylo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
