"UNITED STATES PLANS TO START BOMBING MEXICO"

Fixed the headline.

[-] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 24 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Unhinged President is excited about bombing Mexico to distract from his utter failure of leadership.

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 40 points 1 month ago

Who had The United States bombs Mexico in 2025?

Sadly, I actually did expect this to occur within the year. Idk if it’ll happen in the next couple months, but who tf knows.

[-] nocturne@slrpnk.net 24 points 1 month ago

I will not be surprised when he again forgets that New Mexico is a state, and he bombs us instead.

Trump says US is building a wall in Colorado – a state that doesn’t border Mexico

He designated cartels as foreign terrorist organizations through executive order on his inauguration day and also invoked the Alien Enemies Act. So ya, that actually was on the table since January.

He’s already doing it to Venezuelas fishing boats, without any evidence of them carrying drugs.

[-] DemBoSain@midwest.social 21 points 1 month ago

The only war that could be used to cancel the midterms is with Mexico or Canada.

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

There are no provisions in the US constitution for cancelling elections during wartime. We didn’t even cancel them during our last civil war.

Uncritically parroting the lies of the fascists only gives their lies a sense of normalcy.

[-] DemBoSain@midwest.social 1 points 1 month ago

There are many ways the individual States could interfere with federal elections during a state of emergency.

Being complacent is why we're even having this discussion.

[-] datavoid@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

And the commercial wasn't even bad...

[-] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 18 points 1 month ago

Trump is desperately trying to distract us from his failures.

[-] crusa187@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 month ago

How about we drone strike the Trump-Epstein ballroom instead?

[-] frongt@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Only if Trump and the Project 2025 executors are inside it at the time.

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Mexico has repeatedly asked the United states to do oversight on guns being trafficked into Mexico from the United States to no avail. They even sued but our corrupt Supreme Court full of facist activist judges blocked the suit. We are in a large part responsible for the situation in Mexico and the refugee crisis. This and the ICE Gestapo is just more Native American genocide.

[-] zaugofficial@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

This is good. Mexico needs help dealing with its cartels.

Right now, anyone in the Mexican government who stands up to the cartels ends up putting themselves and their families at grave risk. Most of them have already been killed in a gruesome manner years ago, which is why none of them make it a priority now.

Here's hoping that giving our assistance will make it so cartels cannot threaten the Mexican people ever again.

Edit: "The Mexican Bukele," a mayor who stood up against the cartels was just killed in front of a crowd of people while under police protection: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/nov/02/mexican-mayor-killed-during-day-of-the-dead-celebrations

All the downvoters should really ask themselves if they're thinking about the subject, or just trying to fit in with their peers. I know what I'll put my money on, but I don't think most of you are capable of admitting when you're wrong if it goes against the crowd.

[-] HeartyOfGlass@piefed.social 22 points 1 month ago

without the cooperation of the government

This isn't "help". This is an invasion. You’re an idiot.

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago

There's a history of the USA's bombings of other countries being clothed in "we're helping" rhetoric while doing the opposite of helping. I don't trust at all that this will help, especially when led by incompetent white supremacist fascists like Pete Hegseth.

[-] HeartyOfGlass@piefed.social 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That Troll keeps posting similar authoritarian rhetoric under other news articles about the US wanting to invade other countries.

Account's less than a day old, and they can only seem to parrot the fascist talking points that Hegseth has. The second you call them out as a troll they'll curse & block you lol

[-] zaugofficial@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago

That's cool.

What else do you think should be done to get rid of the cartels?

[-] ruekk@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago
[-] zaugofficial@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago

I can tell none of you have an answer.

[-] PeacefulForest@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

You’ve got some real “boomer” thinking. This is 2025, we can see the destruction the U.S. causes other countries when we step in. I sincerely hope this changes in the future and we can actually help other countries overcome oppression, but fact is, we are not there right now. This administration doesn’t actually care about the cartels, they just want an excuse to bomb more people, look cool to their authoritarian friends, and reap fear.

Also, Mexico didn’t ask for our help. This is calling for an invasion of a country, which means war.

I see you commenting all over how people who disagree with you aren’t thinking this matter through, but it’s pretty damn clear you aren’t thinking it through and you’re being an ass about it. Shameful.

[-] Blumpkinhead@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Have we tried asking them to knock it off?

[-] PeacefulForest@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

How about a strongly worded letter?

[-] Blumpkinhead@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

"My neighbor has a murderer in his house, so I'm going to blow it up. No, I'm not going to at least warn him first. Why do you ask?"

[-] dumbass@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

This is like someone breaking into your house, destroying everything but stealing all your unhealthy food to help with your diet.

[-] zaugofficial@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago

This is like everyone with reddit-brain trying to fit in with each other, even if it means defending cartels.

[-] dumbass@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

I'm not defending the cartel's, I'm just pointing out that this form of "help" will be more destructive if Mexico allows Trump to drone attack whatever he wants in the country, because he already thinks most Mexicans are criminals or rapists, so what's stopping him from just drone bombing the shit out of the country because he believes he's killing criminals?

He's happy to see Americans get killed by his actions, you think he's gonna give a shit about killing Mexicans?

[-] zaugofficial@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago

Maybe if he follows through on this then we can see if your prediction is correct.

[-] GaryGhost@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Just like Iraq, the people were so happy after we left

[-] zaugofficial@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago

No, not just like Iraq.
