Today's the big day, big rally for trans rights in Naarm (aka Melbourne Australia). Feeling pretty nervous tbh, never been involved in anything like this before but there's an awesome team of people involved and I'm sure they'll make sure it goes perfectly. Praying no neo-nazis or alt-right dicks show up.

Had an awesome time chatting with a non-binary presenter on community radio yesterday for their Trans Day of Audibility program where they only air trans voices. They had signs up saying no cis voices allowed, it was so cool.

Oh, and the trans fundraiser gig was awesome. Not only did I get to chat with the band I was excited to see, I managed to get one of their songs on the air.

What a ride this last month has been! I can't wait to take a break lol

I expected 4-500 people, we got 2-3,000.

It was the most empowering thing I've ever been a part of, that crowd was angry, proud and loud.

1 month on HRT now! \o/

Started looking into voice training the past few days. Well, so far that looks like it's going to be A Whole Thing. Really seems like I'll be ending up a somewhat decent voice actor on the side. Not that I mind tbh

Yeah!

Voice training is tough, but you really just have to power through it and use your new voice as much as possible to get the hours in. It gets better, or so I'm told: my voice still sounds kinda clocky to me, but miles better than it was.

I started HRT yesterday! Been in a fantastic mood all weekend, which is a nice change.

That's so cool! Enjoy the ride <3

Pretty dang good. In 30 minutes I'll officially be 6 days sober. Today I hiked around the park with my pup, and now I'm reading a book about Witchcraft.

congrats on your sobriety ❤️

Thanks! Not sure how things got so out of control, but it feels good to take my life back.

AAAAAHHH!!

My name change was approved! I'm now legally [girl name]! I'm really doing this, huh? *panics*

(Sadly I'm unable to update my gender marker for the time being. Thanks, Japan)

Got my name change done, so that was pretty cool.

[-] dandelion 7 points 2 days ago

that's huge, congratulations!! Are you doing anything to celebrate?

[-] Helen 7 points 2 days ago

Hmm… not really. I’m in the UK so I just had to get a couple of my friends to sign my deed poll. We had a cup of tea and some cake that my wife had baked for the occasion. It was a very relaxed affair.

I tried hair removal cream last night in a couple spots. It didn't work great so I figured i might not have been thorough enough. Tried it again more thoroughly this morning, still poor results but also fairly painful! Mild burns/rashes on armpits and nipples. Very glad i didn't do anywhere more sensitive.

So that is firmly off the table from now on.

That stuff is wicked. I use it on my downstairs area because shaving is way more hassle than I'm willing to go through, but it definitely burns every time and feels uncomfortable for the rest of the day. I wish there was another solution that wasn't shaving, waxing, or lasers.

I find it’s great for getting rid of my arse crack mohican. Can’t let it anywhere near the happy sack though. Burns like hell.

I've had acceptable results from an electric trimmer as long as I pull things taut and was careful, I just wanted something a bit less time consuming.

My entire left armpit is currently splotchy pink and painful, as are the nips, so I'm not even going to attempt to put it on my lower bits. I'm more mad that even after all that 3/4 of the hair was still there, so it really didn't do much of anything other than burn me.

There's an electrolysis place nearby that I think i'll look into next payday, i just want it all gone, permanently, starting with the undercarriage and bits, and chest (manboob-stubble HURTS!)

I've never tried hair removal cream - that sounds like a nightmare 😅

Hope you recovery goes well!

Seems to be healing fairly quickly! No longer as much stinging, its not as tender, and some of the splotchiness has faded.
