Kentucky was labeled “Venecky". Louisiana was "Lookoong." Alabama was “Alotome.” Illinois was “Vitoiis.” South Carolina was "Sorth Cuanto."

"Arizona is Arizone. Illinois starts with a V. I mean, it's crazy," Morris said.

There was an article that came up a little while ago about a new private school that was going to teach the children of wealthy people using AI. I'm starting to think we should encourage this, or at least not discourage it, just sit back and watch.

[-] spicehoarder@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Probably isn't a whole lot of difference to what goes on in rich private schools anyway.

You know, you’ve got an excellent point.

These are the morons that fully bought into the "AI like in the movies" hype.

Loving the atomic mass of Mg being -3

[-] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 3 days ago

"LOL, like anyone ever looks at that big-brain stuff"

[-] losthalo@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 days ago

Magnesium can be used for light-weighting your products, but this is ridiculous! Manufacturers are loving this one weird trick!

[-] ephrin@sh.itjust.works 13 points 5 days ago

Well you know it's true when it's coming from a fact theet!

[-] spongebue@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

So these are obviously screenshots of a video... What was the video about? Was the video itself AI-generated?

(Not challenging you on this or anything, just curious the overall topic)

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 7 points 5 days ago

The news story in the article that i linked in the post... lol

[-] LadyMeow 6 points 5 days ago

Ohio completely unchanged as it is an ai generated voidspace in the first place.

[-] _cnt0@sh.itjust.works 25 points 5 days ago

Well, that went sorth quickly.

Morris emailed the principal on the first day of school but says she never received a response.

When WDRB asked JCPS about this, Wednesday the district's executive officer of communications said "I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I spoke with the school today about inaccuracies in their agenda, and they are communicating with parents about the issue."

The communications officer ignored the issue until the press brought it up, and then responded with something 95% sure was AI-generated. Perfect.

[-] Equinox1289@sh.itjust.works 20 points 5 days ago

"I appreciate the pushback"

"You're so right to call us out. We'll definitely avoid similar problems in the future. Every child should know all 50 of the Unootu Steves."

No, PR bot, that's wrong again.

They say that AI can't be creative on its own. Netnaska disagrees.

[-] brygphilomena@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 4 days ago

It's a fucking agenda which gets printed every year on information that isn't changing.

Why have ai generate anything when it could have just printed the same info from any agenda in the previous decade?

[-] Ciderpunk@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago

To be fair, Villinois would be a decent band name.

[-] pdxfed@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

They are terrible, more like VillAnnoys amirite

[-] ShutUpWesley@piefed.zip 14 points 5 days ago

I mean, it's probably not worse than what Kentucky was already teaching them.

[-] chilicheeselies@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

To me the sin ain't so much that they used AI, it's that they were so fucking lazy about it that they didn't bother to check it. What else weren't they checking before they used the AI slop?

[-] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago

Ah yes, the great state of Seorgia.

[-] fartographer@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

Seorgia, Okchoma, and Netnaska are my favorites

Can't wait to visit the great city of GoWago (Chicago)

[-] ray@sh.itjust.works 12 points 5 days ago

This map has some pretty funny errors north of the border too. Quebec became Ontaric and Quebec City became Ontawio. And I'm having trouble making out the names it hallucinated for Vancouver and Manitoba, but it looks like Venncouer and Mallnnta.

[-] lividweasel@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Ontawio

uwu 👉👈

[-] Hegar@fedia.io 10 points 5 days ago

Netruska is very funny as well. Sounds like a russian ISP.

[-] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Florida doesn't even get named. Florida, therefore, doesn't exist.

[-] wolframhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Nah, the AI is just future-proofing the design for when sea levels rise enough to bring more than half of Florida into the intertidal zone

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

This is what our feudal overlords want.

[-] Gork@sopuli.xyz 9 points 5 days ago

It did all that and still got Ohio right? Why?!

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 days ago

It's all Ohio.

[-] ech@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago

Because Ohio is a meme.

As a Texan, listing those two cities instead of any other two might be min/maxing the confused/pissed off people ratio.

[-] fox2263@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

You mean Taxan

[-] MML@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

They have to buy them and it costs $10, why is that not covered by taxes?

[-] Mirshe@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Because (primarily suburban) taxpayers would vote to burn down schools if they thought it would save them $15 on their property tax.

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
