I thought monster had taurine.

[-] toomanypancakes@piefed.world 49 points 1 day ago

They use synthetic taurine because it's cheaper I believe, but there's probably better things you could be drinking anyway.

I do believe water is better, but only if you’re hell bend on that vegan rawfood fad 🤷‍♂️

Look at this guy, drinking raw water like some kind of hipster. I fry my water.

No, you freeze the water, make ice cubes, use bread crumbs and corn starch to make fried water nuggets.

[-] v4ld1z@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

If you're hot, they're hot too.

Throw your ice cubes into the fryer

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

Better be vegan bread crumbs.

[-] ray@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago

Make sure you use plenty of oil so it doesn't stick to the pan.

I find the longer you let em cook on the grill with a low flame the better hit of energy you get out of them.

[-] Midnitte@beehaw.org 11 points 1 day ago

Dont let Monster Vegan know about this.

Vegan shit... What shit is vegan? Human shit obviously, but how about foraged free-range shit from wild animals?

Is it being stolen from the earthworms, or can it be considered vegan?

[-] gandalf_der_12te 6 points 1 day ago

it's vegan if she consents!

i don't know anything else

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Human shit is absolutely an animal byproduct, regardless of what the human ate to produce it.

[-] Lehmuusa@nord.pub 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

A mother's milk is considered vegan because (if) it comes with the mammal's consent. Pretty much the same applies to human sperm. At least if a human explicitly allows you to take its shit for some use, it is absolutely vegan. But then there's the question of whether shit is always vegan.

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

But if you're buying my shit and I'm slurping down footlong glizzies all day, you're actively contributing to carnism. Same thing with breast milk, if the proteins in that sweet booby beverage came from steak and bacon, that baby may as well be running the slaughterhouse.

The earthworm thing from the first comment is interesting too; since their waste fertilizes the soil, the argument could be made that plants are a worm byproduct and thus not vegan. I mean, I'm sure there are innumerable species of tiny soil-dwelling critters that contribute, worms are just the most familiar/obvious. Interestingly, a lot of produce, especially organic, is grown in soil fertilized with animal manure, so thats all not vegan anyway. Same thing for any plant we eat that requires another species to fertilize it, so say goodbye to 75% of the plants we need to live. And that's not even counting the plants that require human labor to produce, which is definitely not vegan seeing as the animals in factory farms only have it slightly worse than most of the people working in them.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
