Danica was the name I told myself I'd use if I ever transitioned. Then I transitioned and discovered it doesn't fit me.

My parents were gonna name me Benjamin if I were a dude but they settled on Rebecca because I'm AFAB. I probably would have picked Benny as my nickname had I chosen the name.

I actually used Willow for a few months when I started my transition. I had my reasons, and they were true to me. The name didn't fit in the end, but I wore willow tree earrings to my court date when I got my current name! She's part of me, and always will be.

I gave away my favorite girl's name to my daughter. After coming out I was nearly Naomi, but I don't like how a lot of English speakers pronounce it as "nay / nigh oh me" instead of "now me". My wife suggested Amy and I thought "fuck it, that'll do."

It's the name I still have. I wanted to have that name even before I knew I could be trans and I still love that name.
