Cringe. This only benefits the wealthy and forces the expectation of hurting yourself for your job.
sometimes we do cringe things. one time I got payed extra to be very very cringe, but I know better now
I'm paid by the hour, why would I want to do something in half the time?
At my age now, I completely agree. Back in my teens I was young, dumb, and it was fun. Looking back, every task was made so tedious that it felt like it encouraged this kind of behavior. It could have just been that I had a cocktail of undiagnosed mental health issues though.
So you can take a half hour smoke break and the work is still done in a reasonable amount of time
or i can take a half hour joke break with the crew and if the boss complains the union tells them to suck ass
don’t break your body for them. they don’t care about you and will not help when you need it.
source: an old person with a broken body
So I can move the fuck on.
Moving on doesn't pay any extra
Depends on the job I guess. I definitely get extra because I am fast.
Don't risk your lives or limbs for the bosses, people
yhea, risk the boss's lives and limbs instead. bosses are replaceable
Just cuz you only have half your fingers to keep count with doesn't mean you did it in half the time. You just ran out of numbers.
"Oh, this is dangerous. If this goes wrong my spine is going to crush like a tinkertoy. ... ... Well... shit. There's no other way to do it really. Okay, I hope it goes okay."
Turned out fine. In retrospect, I was young and dumb. I worked with some guys who'd gotten fucked up, just a couple, usually they gave them work in the office if they wanted it since their bodies didn't work right anymore. OSHA's a good thing.
yep.
A little off topic, but I hope we find the lost episodes of that cartoon. I know for one of the episodes I think we have a German dub, but I want all the episodes in glorious Australian English.
what is it actually ? I don't recognize it
Someone beat me to it, but, Skippy: Adventures in Bushtown.
Whole series is basically following a kangaroo, Skippy, who stops the mayor from doing his plans that would/do screw over the townspeople in most cases.
Skippy: Adventures in Bushtown
See what I do is that I become trustworthy because I end up knowing stuff that the bosses need, so when they need to test new stuff they send me to do it… so I set the pace. Yup, that totally takes an hour to do. What? 15 minutes? Sure, THAT one took 15 minutes, but you see, over here, you can see that this thing happened, and you also have to factor this and that, so really, doing it in under an hour isn’t really possible…
I sleep on the job because I’m hourly.
My boss doesn't let me do things on my own anymore because Im stupidily stubborn....I moved a pallet of furniture 3x my weight with a hand truck across campus and my boss is still stumped on how, apparently "fulcrum" and "gravity" was not an adequate answer
Edit: My coworkers and boss are confused why I am the most knowledgeable on saftey, proper protocols and the consequences of not following them yet the most willing to yolo everything.
You have to understand the rules to properly bend them.
Funnily enough, I say the same thing about art.
exactly!
the most knowledgeable on saftey
I wouldn't like to see the least nolijjuble.

Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
