When I look back upon my life it’s always with a sense of shame. I’ve always been the one to blame.

Damn, bro. you okay? this was a shitpost about butt sex

[-] Fleur_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

God is a jealous lover and just wants all the boys to himself

No that's the Emperor of Mankind

You don’t have to be gay to play butt games. It helps if you’re not a repressed prude though.

Allegedly, sodomy in general is what the bible guy takes issue with. I'll let you know when I catch fire.

I prefer buggery, It sounds more whimsical.

Which God says that homosexuality is a sin? And I'm asking about cases where God actually comes down (either directly or indirectly) and says "no, that's a sin", not about cases where some guy says "nah, that's prolly a sin". Asking because I'm curious about how homosexuality is depicted in religious texts.

Christians say yawej says so. but yawej seems to say a lot of things and then literally change his mind so I pay more attention to what his followers do which is discriminate and hate. that said I did know a couple churches that were LGBTQ+ inclusive, so they probably had some interesting things to say about it

[-] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago

Christianity is about being understanding of other people's mistakes and not hating your enemy, yet the followers keep hating and discriminating 💀

I know, right? The actual (purported) words of Jesus will fit on an index card. They can be further summarized to ‘Be excellent to each other. Wyld Stallyns rule!’

I don't know much at all about the Bible, but is there a reason why in almost all the translations (and interpretations) it appears assumed that the reader is a man themselves? Like, what if a woman is reading? What does it mean then?

[-] froufox 3 points 2 days ago

Interesting to see what's the original of the quote. I've seen one bibleist examined different Bible quotes and explained that in original (Greek) they're not related to homosexuality, and was against rape or promiscuity. And his take was there is nothing against homosexuality in Bible

[-] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago

IIRC the original was aimed at pederasty, which was still common in Greece at the time.

I like this translation

You must not have sexual intercourse with a man as you would with a woman; it is a detestable practice.

it just sounds like a confused peasant

OK as long as man doesn't fuck a man in the vagina it's good. Also lesbian are also not forbidden.

[-] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

I dunno but there are too many damn religions as there is. Humans love to make shit up to understand the world.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
