Holy shit, I was just thinking about my old online friend, who moved in with her boyfriend recently and who I haven't heard from since. Then I saw this post straight away. It sucks. I should ask her how things are going but I'm pretty sure that friendship has to change.

Don't assume the relationship has to change, maybe they got murdered

Reach out respectfully. You have little to lose and if it backfires then you didn't have 'it' in the first place.

[-] Zero22xx 4 points 6 days ago

Nah I don't think I have to worry about anything backfiring and if I just say hi and ask what's up. But I mean the talking all day and into the late hours is probably understandably a thing of the past now. At least for now, in the early days of her playing house and starting a new life.

What the hell is transbian? A trans Debian? (It's a joke no need to explain)

[-] gandalf_der_12te 7 points 6 days ago

insert Debian Estrogen meme

[-] HEXN3T 33 points 1 week ago

A trans person who is also a lesbian (the explanation is a joke, no need to tell me this is unnecessary)

[-] JennyLaFae 13 points 6 days ago

She's only transbian if she's t4t, otherwise she's just sparkling lesbian (This is also a joke.)

[-] kayzeekayzee 17 points 1 week ago

They literally said you don't need to explain (This, too, is a joke)

[-] GeneralVincent@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

The explanation was helpful to me cuz I actually had no idea what it meant (this isn't a joke but my life is)

[-] HEXN3T 19 points 1 week ago

Well, monkey sees question, and then neuron activation (I don't know what to do anymore)

[-] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

Expected comment (amusing addition)

[-] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 week ago

Shoehorning my interest (neurodivergent)

[-] Midnitte@beehaw.org 4 points 1 week ago

What about if they formed an orchestra?

[-] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 27 points 1 week ago

You wouldn't want what your straight gal friends have settled for

[-] gerryflap@feddit.nl 6 points 6 days ago

I don't understand this remark. They could also have found a loving and kind man? The dating pool is a lot larger so they have plenty of chances to pick a decent dude.

[-] JackbyDev@programming.dev 12 points 1 week ago

Why do you say they settled?

[-] TotallynotJessica 12 points 6 days ago

There may be an order of magnitude more options, but an unfortunate amount of them were either raised wrong, or peer pressured into being terrible. The worst men are the ones who will seek you out the most, while people will healthy views on relationships are hard to sort from the sea of shitheads. Misogynistic bros raised on Andrew Tate who are sometimes good at hiding their worst impulses until after you get involved.

It's like there is a certain gendered wall that exists in straight dating that is far less pronounced in queer dating. Even a straight relationship between queer people has more mutual understanding. It's not like abuse doesn't happen in queer relationships, but there's a culturally reinforced understanding of gender roles that makes it hard to feel secure.

[-] Fleur_@aussie.zone 2 points 6 days ago

It's true. Men are Andrew taint and no straight person has ever found true love. Here's my source ShirrlessOldDude.jpeg(hot)

ok so i found out about this charecter a few days ago from a lily simpson video so now i gotta ask: do you watch lily simpson too? owo

[-] JackbyDev@programming.dev 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'm not entirely sure what character it is (forgot the name), but while watching Helluva Boss it stuck out that all female imps had horns like the right and male imps had horns like the left and that this particular character (or another, I don't remember which, but it was the sister of the character on the right) was the first female that had horns like the males. I've never heard of Lily Simpson before. I always assumed the character was trans because of that.

[-] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

I guess you could say she hasn't had her top surgery yet, heh!

[-] OctaviaMeowzly 3 points 6 days ago

well, I hope þey make an episode where she gets her horn surgery

[-] OctaviaMeowzly 4 points 1 week ago

no, funi meme I found on reddit, but I’ll check þem out

[-] erotador 3 points 1 week ago

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
