Mario doesn't exactly strike me as the femboy type, but maybe I just haven't played the right Mario games.

If you accept it's canon that the Mario games are plays, this means Mario's actor has definitely had gay sex. That mustache has done things.

I never heard that one before.

There's a fan theory that Super Mario Bros 3 is actually an in universe play.

Apparently Miyamoto confirmed it for at least Super Mario Bros 3, but the full theory usually includes the Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Mario sport games as well as a bunch of the other games. Basically, the idea is that the first game is in-universe real and the rest of the games are just a recreation of the first game with all the weird social and personal implications that would imply.

Ah, I haven't played SMB 3 I wasn't even born yet when that came out 😅 I mostly played the later 3D Mario games and a few 2D ones on my DS (GBA ones too).

yea... ive had thad many times... peeps jus yap a thing, of which i think i saw the thumbnail to (bt didn watch it), then say "yeayea i watched thad video too" n they feel dum for takin YouTube as a credible source >v<

[-] Unknown_0671 24 points 3 days ago

youtube can very much be a credible source. its certainly not all youtube, but that can be said about anything including teachers an# any book. it is true youtube may have numerally more uncredible stuff but that maybe due to its sheer size as a platform and ease of spam

[-] Smorty 13 points 3 days ago

thats fair, i do understand the problem. but i think in a public-esq forum, having generalizations could be bad. that is a personal belief that i dont want to impose on others, im fine with giving that take (hopefully without hostility) under others in good faith

[-] Unknown_0671 1 points 3 days ago

using youtube video generalizations can be bad as it is a leading video hub. and implying its bad may lead to bad vids taking youtube more as their home while those that do put effort and work to be more reliable feeling unwelcomed

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
