Always knew programming socks were beneficial in way more applications than just programming but I didn't think this would be one of them. The more you know.

There is a series of documentaries where people of many professions wear them. It is a bit on the weirder side because they always end in sex, so not sure how scientific this docu series is.

[-] tux7350@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Hmm how weird. I wonder what the name is? Ya know.... for scientific reasons :3

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago

Never heard of that one, but it does sound very weird, and also a bit gross.

[-] BmeBenji@lemm.ee 31 points 5 days ago

You’re telling me a sock drove this train?

[-] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago

No, a femboy that wore train driving socks.

[-] Zorsith 16 points 5 days ago

You're telling me a femboy wearing a train drove these socks?

You're telling me a sock drives this train?!

[-] Baggie@lemmy.zip 30 points 5 days ago

Finally, trains rights.

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 73 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Taking and publishing that picture, I want to say... ballsy.

[-] Lileath 65 points 5 days ago

There is a german speaking train subreddit where like half of the train drivers are femboys (or it is just the same two people posting so often that my perception is skewed), so I would guess that it is fine. Gender non conforming people and trains just go well together.

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

I bet it's the same reason there's a lot of GNC people in Linux communities. Trains and Linux similarly attract many autistic people, and autistic people tend to be less attached to gender roles (correlation not causation). It's speculated that as a result, autistic people tend to be more likely to explore their gender identity (this bit hasn't been studied yet afaik) and then you end up with trends like this. Train drivers and programmers are all femboys and trans people

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 25 points 5 days ago

I will remember this next time I'm told "sänk ju for träwelling wis Deutsche Bahn".

[-] Malgas@beehaw.org 15 points 5 days ago
[-] SeekPie@lemm.ee 5 points 4 days ago

Public trans(it)

[-] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 5 days ago

Taking is fine, you usually cant look into the driver cabin. Publishing idk...

Well I COULD, hypothetically, see an employer not being exactly ecstatic about their employees doing this while apparently on company time. I know it's unlikely for OP's employer to not only see this but also think it worthwhile to find out who they are, I mostly wanted to make a dumb joke ;)

Who did the unnecessary censorship?

[-] comrade19@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

I think cooked people started to believe certain words like covid and racist were getting their posts less exposure on social media, so they started censoring it like this (even though its embedded in the image) and now it seems to be a trend for people who think they're leaking some ground breaking anti government data, but they're just talking about chemtrails or Bill gates.

[-] CaptnNMorgan@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

I've tried to talk about the bad things Trump has done/said, in the comments sections on YouTube. If I don't censor myself, by misspelling words or leaving out keywords, nobody can see my comment, even me. I have to walk around the issue and point to places where the information actually is, in order for anyone to see it. That results in most people thinking I'm wrong, but it's either that, or do nothing. It could be the YouTube channel, but some of them are left leaning channels and it still happens

[-] spujb@lemmy.cafe 8 points 4 days ago

exactly this lol. lots of people always come into this convo talking tough shit because they simply just don’t go to places where shadow banning happens. not every site is like lemmy/reddit with little to no algorithm manipulation based on keywords. it’s honestly embarrassing when people refuse to accept that and act all uppity.

[-] CaptnNMorgan@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I appreciate being seen😅 Even if it's just one other person 😂

[-] spujb@lemmy.cafe 10 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

this discussion invariably happens at some point sigh xD

some sites have ocr and will take down or algorithm limit your posts if you have certain language. i got this from one such site. i was NOT about to go to twitter and give them traffic to find the original. sorry not sorry lol.

Anyone else see that windshield wiper looking like Slenderman? Just me?

Been there, done that (without the programming socks tho)

[-] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 8 points 5 days ago

Should try it with programming socks.

[-] PowerfulTurtle@lemmy.ca 10 points 5 days ago

I don't think he's the reason the train is late, they seem to be stopped at a station. He's just taking the opportunity while stopped to take a picture.

I think as @ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world said, they're train driving socks.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
