Summary

Steve Bannon, former Trump strategist, sharply criticized Elon Musk over his support for H-1B visas, accusing him of undermining American workers.

On his "War Room" podcast, Bannon warned Musk to adopt MAGA’s “America First” stance or face backlash, calling for a complete immigration moratorium.

Musk, a proponent of skilled foreign labor, has defended H-1B visas for filling tech jobs, citing a lack of qualified Americans, sparking controversy.

Trump's unexpected support for H-1B workers has further divided MAGA supporters, escalating tensions between Trump allies and Musk.

Do they eat the faces after?

Between Musk's "I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend," and Bannon's "we'll rip your face off", it's like watching teenagers with too much testosterone duke it out on the playground. The discourse shows the level of maturity circling around Trump...

I've been equating Trump supporters to teenagers crying about having to do chores and thinking they'd manage the house better than their parents if they were only given a chance!

[-] tiefling 19 points 3 days ago

TBF they never matured emotionally beyond teenagers

[-] AnarchoSnowPlow@midwest.social 28 points 3 days ago

Why don't they just fuck and get it over with?

[-] SnotFlickerman 19 points 3 days ago

Because humanity is suffering enough.

What happens in Mar a Lago unfortunately does not stay in Mar a Lago...

[-] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Well they've had problems retrieving some of those boxes of confidential information, though it's likely that the contents of said information could have been long gone.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

When is the literal slap fight between these two manliest of manly macho alpha males?

[-] DrFistington@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Just do it period, then it will apply to all future fights

[-] Breve@pawb.social 18 points 2 days ago

Aww how cute, he thinks he's the face eating leopard!

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 73 points 3 days ago

I wish this asshole would get pushed to define what he means by "lack of qualified Americans" because I'm like 99.9% sure he just means "they're too expensive."

[-] pivot_root@lemmy.world 70 points 3 days ago

Qualifications:

  • College educated
  • Unable to refuse orders
  • Willing to work for peanuts

Joke aside, it's also about control. American citizens can tell Elmo to fuck off when asked to do something illegal or unsafe. Sponsored workers are incentivized to avoid doing that, as their eligibility to stay in the country is dependent on their employment.

[-] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

They can't find people with 15 years experience on this software that's only been around for 6. Time to hire a foreigner for chump change.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Bingo. Also, they often narrow it down to wanting people with 20 years experience, but still in their 20s. So, yeah, "we had to hire cheap compliant foreigners, regrettably, because no Americans want to work any more...."

[-] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Literally plz

I really hope we get four years of soap opera drama and not four years of old History Channel WW2 documentaries

The modern fascist doesn't present themself as a strong military leader anymore, instead presenting themself as an entertainer for the people. I believe this image is what makes it difficult to get the masses fully under your control, and granting you unchallenged authority.

[-] LadyAutumn 7 points 2 days ago

To Trump fascism has been a means of filling his coffers and dodging criminal prosecution for his many crimes. That kind of changes now, though, as he will have more or less achieved those ends entirely. His twilight years are coming to a close. He doesn't have an infinite stretch of time in front of him. The MAGA movement wants blood. They want to start on the home front, with mass deportation of Latin Americans and widespread institutional violence against queer people. But fascism as political movement does not and can not end there. By necessity, it will escalate into small territorial gains and proxy wars before devolving into conquering military campaigns and eventually collapse under its own weight. He's already preparing for this. This is legitimately already happening. He's already starting to create ideological justification for the forced annexation of several nearby nations.

Fascist countries have a life cycle. It's pretty hard for Fascist nations to justify their own existence without constant conflict. There always has to be another enemy. Fascist thought is dominated by ultra nationalism, patriotic purity tests, and racialism. The more dogmatic the fascist becomes, the more they come to see the world itself as the inheritance of their race and nationality. Unless Trump intends to abandon fascists at some point (something I think is pretty unlikely), then he will have to justify the continued existence of the fascist movement. His followers will be angry, and he has to keep them that way.

[-] GooberEar@lemmy.wtf 7 points 2 days ago

It's okay, I'm 99% sure Musk's species sheds its skin on a regular schedule to begin with, that being the lizardpeople way.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Who is we? Does Bannon have any money backing him?

[-] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Bannon has been pushing fascist ideology worldwide for years now. He has Chinese money backing him, probably other countries by now. He started to make most of his money farming gold in WOW.

Oh, he also pushed that gamergate BS and recognized he could tap into the young male anger for his purposes. He traveled throughout the EU after Trump won in 2016, assuming to make connections and push more fascism. He also traveled around the US and made friends with right wing militias. The same that were in DC during 1/6.

He seems effective and a fucking monster. Fuck that dude.

I hope this fight is real and Bannon's recent talk about billionaires have to eat the tax hikes and not working class is true. I don't trust him, but I assume he recognizes they could lose movement if the masses get too upset too fast. Bread and circuses and all that.

Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if this fight is fake and Bannon is just making noise so his 'enemies' don't know what he is doing. He might make a lot of noise. Have Musk say nevermind let's not do these visas. Bannon will declare victory. Musk will implement anyway. Bannon won't mention it because he won and there's a new topic to complain about.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I agree on that last thing you said most especially. While I agree with Bannon's position on H-1Bs, I don't really think he's principled about it at all as a matter of labor relations for the American worker. He's more about stoking hatred and division in support of his beliefs about white supremacy.

I also think you are right - if Bannon thinks he can get some performative "win" on the matter, he'll not say a peep if later on nothing changes and Americans are still getting screwed while elites continue exploiting foreign labor.

You can see other obvious cases of absurdity from this bunch - right now, people like him and Loomer are upset about billionaires having undue influence (LOL) and many on the rightfully clutch their pearls about the likes of Nancy Pelosi making money off of insider trading, but they say nothing about donvict, who is allegedly already a billionaire, making money while in office from rather suspect foreign sources....I don't expect any consistency from these people at all....

[-] ultranaut@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Yes. I don't know who Bannon is referring to specifically but there's various billionaires behind him. He was living on a Chinese billionaires superyacht last year before his prison sentence.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

It's almost like some of these people - donvict, Elon, Bannon, Thiel - are trying to pattern their lives after cartoon supervillians, isn't it?

I also wonder when magabrainz watch things like Back to the Future or Caddyshack - who are they rooting for when they watch those movies?

[-] FollyDolly@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Ol' Steve ain't looking so good these days, not sure he'd win at tearing another person's face off. Looks like he gets winded opening a door.

I don't know whether to be happy they're fighting or sad I agree with Steve Bannon about anything...
