Other things beyond that can also be cheating. That is one kind of cheating but other things can be cheating as well.

There are a lot of people on it with very strong opinions that fall well outside the norm. From my experience, most of what goes on there is pretty innocuous, occasionally I’ll see something on the all page from there that makes me raise an eyebrow in disbelief, but like, not often enough to be a serious bother for me TBH.

… so… why do they wear curly wigs?

… and put on red lipstick?

Does soot make your hair curly and lips extra red?

I mean, about half, an exaggeration sure, but like not an absurd one. Like, it’s the with in same order of magnitude.

It’s worth a recount and investigation at least. Even if it doesn’t come to anything, it’s still serious and should be addressed for the sake of reaffirming confidence in the voting system.

So, the big kicker on that front is that most distributions ( there is a whole family tree of different versions built with different goals) are open source, meaning that people can look at the code and see what is running on their machine. Most people aren’t inspecting every part of their system, but every part has been inspected by many people. When something sketchy goes on, it will be called out. Because the code is open for anyone to see, and most versions are distributed under certain licenses, people can take it and branch off their own version if they don’t like what’s being done.

There are some versions maintained by companies (Android for example) and some by volunteers, but they all run on the same open source Linux kernel, or some modified version of it, which is maintained by volunteers. Most Linux distributions are built by people who care about it and want it to work well.

So at the end of the day, it’s all super transparent and there is a lot of accountability through that. No one will be sneaking spy wear in or logging what you do unless you let them, and because there is so many versions, it’s easy to migrate to a different version if the people making one do something stupid.

A lot of power users love Linux for how much you can do with it, but there are lots of versions that are built to be easy to use and as low maintenance as possible. There is a huge variety of versions, even a bunch of gimmick or joke version.

it was mainly just two reps. Tom Suozzi (NY 3rd district, north west Long Island) and Seth Moulton (MA 6th district, north east of Boston).

If I had to guess they were listening to people who thought the trans support was a serious cause for low turn out and wanted to get out ahead and raise their profiles by attaching them selves to the theory.

I can imagine.

Seriously, people need to stop condescending to disaffected voters and start screaming at their representatives and local party leaders to support policies that will actually excite voters.

The onus is on the Democratic Party to win this election, not on everyone to the left of them to drag a stagnant DNC over the finish line.

Highlighting the point that it is not good at critically examining its sources of information. Because it cannot do anything that requires critical thinking.

Hmm, wow, almost like being pro cop doesn’t save you from power tripping cops who know they will face no consequence.

Sure not all cops will do that, but when one of their co workers do, they just stand by and let it happen, then lie and cover for them.
