From the Wiki:

PICO-8 is a virtual machine and game engine created by Lexaloffle Games. It is a fantasy video game console that mimics the limited audio-visual capabilities of 8-bit systems from the 1980s to encourage creativity and ingenuity in producing games without being overwhelmed with the many possibilities of modern tools and machines. Such limitations also give PICO-8 games a particular look and feel.

Coding on the PICO-8 is accomplished through a Lua-based environment, in which users can create music, sound effects, sprites, maps, and games.

Users are able to export their games as HTML5 web games or upload their creations to Lexaloffle's official BBS where other users are able to play the games in a web browser, and view the source code. PICO-8 games can also be exported as executable programs, which will run on Windows, macOS, or Linux.

Do you have a favorite game on Pico-8? Have you ever tried to make one yourself? Do you like the idea of a fantasy console?

Do you have any tips?

I just started playing around with it myself, and one thing I like about it is that you can immediately jump to various editors for anything you play on it. It seems like an interesting way to make a small game.

I anime gun games especially with badass chicks. However, I am annoyed that you have to play them online constantly. Are there any games that have an offline mode to play that's in the same genre as Anime girls with guns?l

Being a noob in heist games (isthereanydeal.com)

I had Monaco 2 on my watchlist. Now it’s on sale and it reminded me that I never really joined a multiplayer game in the first one. Because I’m afraid that being a noob I will ruin the game for everyone. Same with Due Process. Of course that is a vicious cycle where I keep being noob but don’t join a game out of fear of doing a noob thing. Not noticing something important, not timing something right, etc

Multiplayer in itself is not a problem, I have been playing other multiplayer titles. Both as a noob and a veteran. But the heist theme feels daunting

In a way I feel Payday was kind of easier in that regard because it was geared towards that “oops, I guess we are shooting now”

Has anyone had similar feeling? I probably should “just do it"
I feel like on the first game I should warn the lobby that I’m a noob, at which point I expect half of them to leave :D

Perfect Dark (N64) was and is one of my favorite games. Microsoft came along and downgraded it (in my opinion ruined) with perfect dark zero.

I still was hopeful to see the reboot for the new era of consoles. Until I saw the gameplay demo. It's like they hired people who specifically didn't play any Perfect Dark game. When it got axed I wasn't surprised and was actually happy, ironically.

The buyers are committing $36 billion of their own equity (briefly and inexpertly, "equity" is the value of your assets after you deduct anything you owe), including the value of the PIF's existing investments in EA. They're making up the rest of the total thanks to a $20 billion loan from JPMorgan Chase Bank. How will they manage that massive debt? According to the Financial Times, who cite unnamed insiders, they're gambling on the deployment of generative AI tools as a gigantic cost-saving measure.

"The investors are betting that AI-based cost cuts will significantly boost EA's profits in the coming years, people involved in the transaction told the Financial Times," the paper wrote (paywall) in their own coverage of the story. The FT elsewhere commented that the acquisition "is a huge bet that artificial intelligence can significantly cut EA's operating costs, allowing the equity consortium to manage a large debt load on a company that historically carried limited net debt."
