Feudalism is entirely different from Capitalism

Not really, no. Even though feudalism doesn't consider greed and resource hoarding inherently virtuous like capitalism does, both are at their core about the few rich and powerful exploiting and abusing the many poor and powerless through ownership of the necessities for life and a greater capacity for violence.

a test for the fans in watching a whole match

I'd fail that test SO hard! A single match takes up to five days with 6 hours of play each day!

That's two and a half times as long as the LOTR extended edition, for ONE match of inbred baseball!

Too difficult to pronounce. Let's just call it Pississippi. There's too many M states and only one P state anyway 🤷

I know about Twenty20 and, while nowhere near as bad as Test Cricket, it's still basically bizarre baseball for damaged people pining for the "good" old days of more blatant British imperialism 😉

Btw, who the fuck calls the absolute pinnacle of excellence in their sport "test"? Ffs! 😄

Cricket is a sport

Is it, though? Really?

Just kidding, I know cricket is a sport. Somehow simultaneously boring and nonsensical, but a sport nonetheless 🤷

Fun fact: Neymar is an anomaly, not the norm. Pretending otherwise is just prejudice stemming from cherry picking and/or ignorance.

Almost exclusively billionaires, hectomillionaires, and their corporations.

I know you were being rhetorical, but just in case anyone wasn't aware 😉

Can we uplift quality journalism that is also not filled with bought and paid for journalists and media.

Sure. A good start for you would be to not rag on Common Dreams, one of the best independent outlets, for calling out those that ARE bought and paid for.

The complaints about the media sound like boomer ramblings

Or, you know, journalists with integrity holding corporate shills masquerading as journalists accountable..

I seem to hear it most often from millennials

Because we're the first generation to become adults in a world where there are completely viable alternatives readily available, such as Common Dreams. Also, did you mean "millennials" or Gen Z? Maybe both? Because if anything, Gen Z is MORE critical of the billionaire-owned media than we are.

Sincerely, elder millennial, 41.

Like, who the fuck else you relying on to know what's going on in the world

More reliable sources, such as Common Dreams, The Nation, The Intercept, sometimes The Guardian (though how reliable they are varies subject by subject)

Or, even worse: "dinosaurs aren't real, the Bible would have mentioned them"

GOP introduces bill that would send anyone convicted of unlawful activity on a campus since Oct. 7th, 2023 to Gaza.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/15286301

"A group of Republican lawmakers introduced a bill on Wednesday which would send “any person convicted of unlawful activity” at a college or university, to do community service in Gaza for six months."

"Strangely, the bill appears to refer to any “unlawful activity on the campus of an institution of higher education beginning on and after October 7, 2023” but does not specifically mention the ongoing student protests, rendering it stupidly broad."

"Ogles spoke with Fox News about the bill, saying that, “If you support a terrorist organization, and you participate in unlawful activity on campuses, you should get a taste of your own medicine. I am going to bet that these pro-Hamas supporters wouldn’t last a day, but let’s give them the opportunity.”

To those not familiar with the hilarious Fern Brady: there's probably absolutely miniscule overlap between people who like her style of comedy and those who like hacks like Iglesias and Dunham.

No clue about Gilmore Girls fandom overlap, though.

That's like saying "oh, you like gummy bears? I bet you also like pasta carbonara!" 😄

Republican defends child marriage: I'm "pro-choice"

A New Hampshire Republican lawmaker who has been under fire for defending child marriage has lashed out at his "haters" while insisting that his stance is "pro-choice."

State Representative Jess Edwards inspired outrage last week after describing underage teenage girls as "ripe" and "fertile" while arguing against a bill to raise the age of marriage in the Granite State from 16 to 18. The bill passed by a vote of 192-174 despite objections from Edwards and others.

Edwards described critics of his underage marriage stance as "an army of control freaks that want to entice a pregnant woman into an abortion rather than allow a marriage" in a Facebook post on Monday.

Zoo defends ‘panda’ exhibit after criticism for using dogs dyed black and white

On May 1, the zoo drew large crowds of excited animal lovers as it prepared to unveil a new attraction.

When the zoo revealed the animals, visitors were met with the sight of little four-legged creatures, with white faces and black spots around their eyes and ears - not unlike the colorings of a panda.

The only thing is, these creatures weren't pandas. In fact, they were Chow Chows - a dog you might recognize from real life or social media, since they're very much the opposite of a wild animal.

The spitz-type dogs originally come from northern China, and were presented at the zoo because the owners said they didn't have any actual pandas to show visitors.

The owners were accused of trimming and dying the dogs to look like pandas, causing some backlash as locals accused the zoo of animal cruelty.

However, a spokesperson for the zoo hit back at the criticism as they pointed out that 'people also dye their hair'.
