That's where the trash swirl is I think... so it could be made if plastic

[-] giantfloppycock@lemm.ee 31 points 11 months ago
[-] SnotFlickerman 14 points 11 months ago

Plastic here to there, dead sealife everywhere

Devastation, this is man's creation

[-] MMNT@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 months ago

Haha, that was brilliant. 😂

[-] Smorty 16 points 11 months ago

At least that plastic has a use then...

Done and done, is it Shadow Lands or a pubg map?

[-] MrMcGasion@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

I hate that I know this, but that's Fortnite Chapter 1, probably around season 2 or 3.

[-] cobwoms 30 points 11 months ago

based on what little i know about tectonic plates, earth is working on it already. give it about 10 billion years.

[-] Neato@kbin.social 16 points 11 months ago

Unfortunately we've only got about a billion.

[-] cupcakezealot 27 points 11 months ago

the ultimate in gentrification just planting a new continent over indigenous islands

[-] MrNesser@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago

Lex Luther tried this once and everyone hated him for it

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 30 points 11 months ago

True but he was also Kevin Spacey at the time

[-] ichbinjasokreativ@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago

We kind of already did that, except it's made of trash.

[-] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 16 points 11 months ago

We just need to put something on top of the load bearing plastic.

[-] tweeks@feddit.nl 3 points 11 months ago

That's a great idea, melt everything together and we've got a giant landmass. Let's add even more garbage there, presto!

[-] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Let’s add even more garbage there, presto!

Billionaires?

If Atlantis was so cool, how come no one ever started Atlantis 2: Pacificis?

[-] troyunrau@lemmy.ca 14 points 11 months ago

I'd play that mod in EU4 ;)

[-] Skua@kbin.social 11 points 11 months ago
[-] troyunrau@lemmy.ca 6 points 11 months ago

Oh excellent 👌

Me, mumbling to my laptop: "Anbennar, you're going to have to be okay with an open relationship."

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

I dunno, sounds like a garbage place to live.

[-] kogasa@programming.dev 11 points 11 months ago

That's where Northrend goes.

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 11 points 11 months ago

That's probably where the ultra-rich are building floating city or something

[-] Graphy@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

There’s a hilarious history of libertarians trying to create island nations which end up failing. My favorite part is when they realize they need to implement laws similar to ones they’re trying to get away from.

Idk where people get their podcasts from but behind the bastards had a fun one of the subject too. https://youtu.be/6sUPr1k4vB8?si=vE4Tpo1TNS27hlLJ

I haven't watched that video, but Mu has never existed. It was a thought experiment theorised by some victorian antiquarian and has no tangible evidence associated with it

[-] phuntis@sopuli.xyz 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

yeah the video doesn't claim it existed it's called what if there was a continent in the pacific atleast read the title it's an alternate history speculation

[-] vaquedoso@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I know that channel and I recognised the video, I just haven't watched it. I was just replying to the comment where they said it existed as it was fact. And sorry, I didn't mean to sound aggressive if it came out that way.

[-] phuntis@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

considering the video they linked I'm pretty sure they were joking when phrasing it as if it actually rxisted

[-] vaquedoso@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Re-reading their comment now and the way they phrased I don't think I'm able to interpret it that way, but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Glad we are on the same page now!

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Yes I did intent it as a joke, it's pretty clearly sarcasm

Let's make it a floating island and call it skylantis.

[-] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Sorry, left it in the Pegasus galaxy

[-] Toes@ani.social 3 points 11 months ago

Ran out of ZPMs too?

I’ve always said we have too much ocean—and it’s only getting bigger.

Are you a member of Team Magma?

[-] TheFriar@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

I’m a devoted follower of Captain LetsBuildLandOnTheOcean. The name isn’t so catchy, but the point is clear.

[-] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Someone call UAE, they are the experts on such stuff

[-] nifty@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

That's what they want you to think

[-] AllonzeeLV@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Don't tempt our owners.

They'll crash a meteor there killing millions to billions just to fight an economic war/game amongst themselves over carving up the new mountain real estate in the pacific.

[-] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 2 points 11 months ago

We can have a Waterworld situation going there

[-] Octopus1348@lemy.lol 2 points 11 months ago

The best way to solve overpopulation.

[-] TexNox@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago

Andesoria's out there somewhere I think.
