It's one of the things I actually like about ADHD, if it can even be considered a result of it.

I'm not sure if I get this exactly but I've definitely noticed my spacial awareness has decreased when I've been hyperfocussing.

I also forget why I've gone somewhere by the time I've arrived because I've been thinking about something else on the way. I have to run through the top level mental list of my priorities and see whether any of them could involve that place. If not I try and find something useful to do there anyway, so it's not a wasted trip.

And having to rewind videos/podcasts by several minutes searching for the moment I tuned out and started thinking about something else....

And in the same day I can start another task, blink, and it's sunset and I haven't eaten lunch.

More often what will happen to me: I'm a wheelchair user and I spend most of my day at my desk. Sometimes I'll think - I'm hungry or thirsty - I'll get something after I finish this.

Then the relevant thing that happens: Some time later, I'll unlock my chair and start to head for the kitchen - and be like - why am I going to the kitchen? ......Oh yeah, I was hungry/thirsty.

I didn't make a conscious decision to go get anything, but apprently I made an unconscious one that led to physical action.

It's almost like the subconscious brain does have some control over the body. Almost scary. heh.

Very crazy. I didn't notice this for a lot of my life, i think heavy ~~phone~~ screen usage prevented my brain from daydreaming (or allows you a chance to daydream), and i usually did my daydreaming while practising music or playing video games. I'm noticing it a lot more in adulthood.

Mine doesn't usually do that. Mostly I just lose time. But hyper focus for me is usually something very small and unlikely to involve much movement. Or maybe just the types of activities I tend to do don't involve moving around the house while on a single focus. But that's just my brand of ND probably. I don't do autopilot like that. Could also be because of the Autism blended in there.

I have to consciously initiate any real physical movement, which will always require main focus even if for a second. No habits, no muscle memory/autopilot, almost everything requires executive function, just that often other things get unconsciously ignored even when I acknowledge them verbally. A lot of verbal stuff I guess can end up autopiloted, though, or at least my brain fails to record in my memory that I heard or acknowledged it, but only simple acknowledgements like "yes/no/OK".
