test that GFCI socket by pushing the button, if it doesn't trip it needs to be replaced, you should do this regularly (usually monthly)

Your life (and your GF's, who might use the old socket) is precious, better check it once in a while. You don't want that kind of spicy. Also, other sockets might be connected to the GFCI of this one. Testing is no big deal, there's just a loud click if it disconnects correctly. It usually takes a bit of force to reset it after the test to return to normal operation.
