But now Trump and you Republicans have now set the, to paraphrase Trump, presidence (sic) of Executive branch's ability, nay, duty to censor speech.

Ted Cruz can go fuck himself.

[-] zikzak025@lemmy.world 46 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

In all other things, sure. But I won't stick my nose up at an otherwise spineless person growing a small degree of structural fibrous cartilage against the Trump administration.

After he stonewalls the FCC, then he can go fuck himself for everything else. Unless this amounts to no more than political posturing, in which case he is free to start at his earliest convenience.

growing a small degree of structural fibrous cartilage against the Trump administration.

That's not what's happening here, he's not actually doing anything to obstruct any of the administration's plans, he's just a liar saying some shit into a reporter's microphone

It's worse than useless because it somehow gives people the mistaken impression that Ted Cruz isn't and hasn't always been a giant piece of shit who would say or do anything for more power

[-] zikzak025@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Absolutely, but I also know that Trump is the sort of person who takes these offenses personally.

I'd never count on Ted Cruz to do the right thing when push comes to shove, but I'm hoping Trump thinks the walls are crumbling around him when even people like Rafael over there don't immediately fall in line behind him.

The two have had spats before, and maybe something like this could be Cruz's "Marjorie moment" where he loses the mandate of MAGA and the right fractures just a bit more.

[-] CaptainBlinky@lemmy.myserv.one 31 points 6 days ago

I... agree with Ted Cruz? fuck.

[-] bagelberger@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago

No, he's agreeing with you

[-] dipcart@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

After agreeing with Tucker Carlson on a few things, agreeing with Ted Cruz is still painful

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Even a broken clock is correct twice a day. Ted is still a treasonous Israeli backed traitor who is most likely a pedophile

[-] glitch1985@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Truly unprecedented times.

[-] Seaguy05@lemmy.world 26 points 6 days ago

Oh man, if Rafael Cruz is trying to appear to be better than maga brandon carr then maga is in some trouble. Cruz is vile and will sell out his own kids to look better than he is and here he is going against the maga grain.

[-] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

This!!!!

“Ted” is rat zero

If he is jumping, the sinking is imminent.

[-] prole 12 points 6 days ago

Ah so now Ted is positioning himself for a run at POTUS, just like Tucker.

Rats from a sinking ship

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Nobody likes Ted stop persecuting pedophiles Israel first cruz

[-] OldQWERTYbastard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 6 days ago

Aaaw look! The little Texas pedo protector suddenly wants to do the right thing.

[-] hakase@lemmy.zip 18 points 6 days ago

Insert "person you hate just made a great point" meme.

[-] PunnyName@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago

Just remember: you're not agreeing with Raphael Cruz, he's agreeing with you.

[-] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 17 points 6 days ago

And it's not Senator Ted Cruise's job to flee to Cancún when a snowstorm causes Texans to lose power...

[-] Cargon@lemmy.ml 11 points 6 days ago

Why hasn't Ted Cruz's family honor killed him yet?

[-] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 6 points 6 days ago

more to the point why do Texas voters keep reelecting him ? I guess they feel he's the best person for the job!

[-] DokPsy@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

I've been doing my part to get rid of him and corny... And the others. The weirdest thing is that no one likes the person. The people who keep voting for him do it because he's still running as Republican and they can't force themselves to vote differently. Also they are usually racist

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 13 points 6 days ago

Am I going crazy? I’ve just agreed with Ted Cruz.

[-] IamSparticles@lemmy.zip 13 points 6 days ago

Ted is likely positioning himself for another presidential run in 2028. Part of that involves making statements that are broadly popular. "The government shouldn't censor speech" is about the most non-controversial thing he could possibly say.

[-] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Didn't you guys call it muh freeze peach earlier

[-] prole 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Yikes. Do you think people on the left don't value free speech?

The "freeze peach" shit is used mockingly when arguing against people who think the first amendment means they can say racist shit on private property with no consequence.

Context matters.

[-] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

The first amendment does mean that, where consequences are specifically government fines or imprisonment. It doesn't protect you from being fired from your job later

[-] PunnyName@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

Just remember: you're not agreeing with Raphael Cruz, he's agreeing with you.

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 4 points 6 days ago

🤢 I might be sick.

[-] 0ndead@infosec.pub 2 points 6 days ago

Ted Cruz is full of shit

[-] capital_sniff@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Look I'm no fan of Ted, I don't like his politics and think he's a shitty human. However, he is a perfect example of a human fish monster.

[-] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 1 points 6 days ago

However, he is a perfect example of a human fish monster.

That's an insult to the Deep Ones.

[-] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 6 points 6 days ago

He’s not wrong, but he’s still an asshole

[-] Nastybutler@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

I do not like that man, Ted Cruz

[-] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 6 days ago

I do not like that man, Ted Cruz

I do not like him reading the news

I do not like his sorry stick

And while he's right this time,

He can suck my dick

[-] Zephorah@discuss.online 9 points 6 days ago

Great. Now do something besides just talking about it.

[-] cattywampas@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

I heard that Ted Cruz pees his pants because he likes the warm feeling between his legs.

[-] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Ted Crook.... eh puta merda. 🖕

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 6 days ago

Except when you're making fun of a Republican, with their own words.

In that case, you should incite a mass vigilante mob.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 6 days ago

He'll get back in his lane in 3...2...

Ted Cruz is a consummate piece of shit, but this is absolutely a stopped clock moment, because he’s absolutely correct on this one point.

[-] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

Careful Ted, your integrity is showing.

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

Cruz is probably just trying to sound sensible for election season.
