94$ USD, and no mention of how much is in a bottle... Sus.

[-] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 2 days ago

Is it legal in the US to sell something without telling you how much is inside? Seems insane

[-] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Blind bags and all kinds of novelty items don’t have to tell you what’s inside/how much if they do a nifty trick called marketing it as a display/novelty and mark it as not for use/consumption

[-] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 days ago

I mean, sure. but in this case it's clearly inteded for consumtion

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 5 points 3 days ago

They are available individually like I stated.

How much liquid is in each bottle?

[-] Test_Tickles@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

$45 of liquid. There's also $2 of bottle.

[-] Lemmchen@feddit.org 12 points 2 days ago

Why would anybody bear to drink Tequila or Gin, if it's not for the buzz?

[-] haverholm@kbin.earth 3 points 2 days ago

Ask any Starfleet crew? 😅

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 2 points 2 days ago

Some people like the taste. A lot of their use in drinks makes the drink have a great depth to taste.

[-] confuser@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

I think this about anyone drinking any form of alcohol, it seems like the only potential upside is the social lube but this is just a skill issue if you need alcohol to be a functional human

[-] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago

So this is obviously not actually any type of inebriant, correct?

I've read articles going all the way back to 2009 where researchers have been working on alcohol alternatives. But this is not it and is just marketing. Just zero proof tequila and gin with "Star Trek" slapped on the bottle, correct?

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 4 points 2 days ago

It’s not an alcoholic beverage.

The Original Zero Proof, Gin Alternative, Non Alcoholic Spirit Synthehol, The Original Zero Proof, Tequila Alternative Non Alcoholic Spirit Born in the 24th century, Synthehol was the Federation's answer to an alcohol alternative

So flavored water for $94.

[-] sabine_esch@norden.social 3 points 2 days ago

@SaveTheTuaHawk @Lushed_Lungfish The point of synthehol in Star Trek is that you feel drunk and have all the side effects of being drunk until you decide not to.

Can this stuff do this?

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

It's overpriced flavored water, like all alcohol substitutes. Huge fucking ripoff industry.

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 4 points 2 days ago

A lot of the value in alcohol is in the flavorings, not the ethanol.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

A lot of the value of alcohol is taxes. So why are they charging $94 for flavored water.

[-] Mandarbmax@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Finally we have made Synthol, from the critically acclaimed show "Synthol is bad tasting" by gene rodenbery

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 2 points 2 days ago

Hey… XB’s can get intoxicated. So it is pleasurable for some.

[-] Mangoholic@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 days ago

Cool, but how does it compare to agave syrup in water or juniper in water.

[-] Gork@sopuli.xyz 11 points 3 days ago

But how does it compare to Tea, Earl Grey, Hot.

[-] SarahValentine 4 points 2 days ago

No thanks, just pass me a bottle of Green.

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 1 points 2 days ago

That’s one of the cocktails you can get around the Rio during STLV.

[-] j4yc33@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago
