it never was cheddar, it's american "cheese".

[-] comador@lemmy.world 79 points 3 days ago

If the wax seal has never been broken and it's been kept in a cool pantry or cellar, I'd 100% eat it.

If you cannot verify either: chuck it.

[-] rockSlayer 51 points 3 days ago

As best as I can tell, the wax is still has no cracks and it's been stored in the beer fridge this entire time

[-] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Be weary of power outages. It might not have been properly stored even if you think it was.

[-] comador@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago

Open gently, place on a freezer cooled plate and let it breathe for an hour... carve and enjoy.

[-] mr_account@lemmy.world 25 points 3 days ago

Well, carve at least

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 21 points 3 days ago

That knee looks a little suspicious.

It's not been stored correctly though for aging. It's not even the oldest cheese I've eaten though.

Bad news, I don’t think it’s mild cheddar anymore

Oh no, that's become wild cheddar my friend.

[-] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

The ultimate Packers cheese head

[-] mvilain@fedia.io 27 points 3 days ago

When a friend's parents passed away, he came over to start packing up their house. He found tartar sauce that could vote and little onyx-like bricks of partially consumed cream cheese in the fridge. The spice rack contained Owl Spices which were donated to the state historical society.

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago

He found tartar sauce that could vote

Strange that it had the sentience to accomplish that.

[-] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 51 points 3 days ago

It doesn't have sentience, it votes Republican

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

God dammit. That explains a lot! Ok guys! Stop producing cheese! It's our only hope!

That is the most Wisconsin thing I’ve ever seen.

Side note and please don’t take offense: FTP

[-] rockSlayer 13 points 3 days ago

Lol we're no fans of the packers either. Iirc it was a joke gift for when my grandparents moved to their current house

Lol we're no fans of the packers either.

We all make mistakes sometimes.

Friends that poop

[-] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 days ago

Not sure it can legally be called cheese anymore

[-] muhyb@programming.dev 19 points 3 days ago

Keep it in mint condition (and colour) at this point. :)

[-] rockSlayer 24 points 3 days ago

At this point I think it can be considered an heirloom

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Actually, I think it's cheese.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

it was cheese.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

moldy and bacterial cheese, thats not good for you, yum.

[-] ZebulonP@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I saw these all the time as a kid. Never knew what they were. Was hoping theyd be some kind of sweet.

[-] SCmSTR 10 points 3 days ago

What color did it start as

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Your grandma has a 22 year old block of mold and calcium lactate.

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago
[-] Lumisal@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Only 78 more years to go!

[-] hodgepodgin@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 days ago

yeah anyone recommending eating that is just wrong

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

Think of what cheese is.

"I milked this cow, and now the milk has become full of bacteria, smells gross, and has solidified.......but I think I'm going to eat it."

[-] hodgepodgin@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

What I mean is that you have no idea what bacteria is in that cheese or if the beer fridge was constantly refrigerated. If it doesn’t kill you it could still lead to an unpleasant ER visit. Not worth it over $10-20 worth of cheese.

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

eat the fucking cheese

[-] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago
[-] Zorque@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

My assumption from the coloring was a football player.

[-] otter@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 days ago

The back label says football player

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 days ago

So, it's an astronaut. Like Katie Perry.

It is spicy cheddar.

[-] Draegur@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

I was still in high school when that cheese was made.

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

And you're almost done with 11th grade!

[-] Draegur@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Sometimes I wish I were still in high school, but mostly because it was a different era... How foolish and idealistic we were to believe that dubbya was going to be the worst president and that America would ever unfuck its shit and become s place worth living in again "soon". There was no actual recovery after 9/11; just manic delusions.

No, unfortunately, no matter how hard I yearn and wish and dream, it's not 2003 anymore and I'll never be in high school again. Hell, I don't even envy the kids who are in high school NOW. I hear that all the issues schools used to have back then have only gotten worse. Even college has become a scam due to student loans. I'm actually glad I quit college to just work and pay off my loans twenty years ago.

If I had stayed in college for my chosen major I'd still be in debt to this day but unable to find work. Things would have only turned out better for me if I had changed my major to go full on into engineering, but that concept was nowhere near my mind back then and wasn't even close to "on the table". And now, even that track is oversaturated. The economy is hemorrhaging all its resources at the parasitic tumors afflicting its managerial and administrative levels. We're all just waiting for the confidence game to fall apart at this point...

Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.
