Well that's fun that it's now considered attacking when questioning mod decisions on world. Then again they've always been incredibly aggressive that way in their news comm when people don't go along with their odd decisions
Yeah, I'm amused jordanlund posted the modlog, as that does not make him look better. I raised the issue with another mod and they called my criticism "belligerent", which is a wild label to apply to those two comments. There was no response to moderating for "spite". Apparently he just couldn't help himself after such withering belligerence.
Yeah they get crazy anytime they're questioned. But world seems to love having them as a mod so 🤷good for them?
My experience is similar to LibertyLizard. A lot of the time they're just doing regular mod stuff, but every once in a while they go Cartman and just escalate every minor little critique. This is definitely not the first time I've noticed them going off the rails for seemingly minor criticism.
The other mods should be reeling him in when this happens and ideally he should be the one calling them in. I've modded before, and we'd go to our fellow mods if we were getting heated. Easier to get the sanity check and if you're in the right to have a third party step in to do the mod actions. I'm not sure how active they really are though. Since there's no "message the mods" system I had to go down the mod list to find someone to lodge the complaint with. Only a few of them post to Lemmy regularly.
Last time I looked at it the Lemmy world mods discord server was just a giant dick sucking contest where they just egg each other on with shit like this, I wouldn't expect any of them to call each other out.
When they have an issue with a specific user they will rally around the group to build dislike for that particular user posting screen shots and berating them between themselves.
I haven't been on there for 6 months + as I deleted my discord account but I doubt much has changed in that time.
I was gobsmacked that "I'll remove it to spite you" didn't even warrant some bullshit like "we agree that that was an inappropriate thing for a mod to say", even if they backed him on the strict no image posts stance. That's really inexcusable, and the very core of the problem.
.world is just Reddit 2.0 at this point...
In case anyone is new around here or missed it before -
hahahahahahahahahahaha bro really thinks he is the victim of misandry huh god bless the privilege of never having to self reflect
"yeah, racism is inconvenient for me because of the protesting but enough about that. Let's talk about how hard it is to be me, a white man." lmaooooooo
Yep, that's definitely the moderator of an internet forum if I've ever seen one. 😂
oh dear, let's hope he doesn't see this or he'll start in on "why doesn't BLM care about black-on-black crime"
Jesus fucking christ. Yikes!
L...l...LIBERAL!!!!
Lol. Oh no...
Wow. Just wow.
Jordanlund being normal as always, PTB.
clear PTB. Using mod powers to settle personal disputes.
Seems like it's time to bring back the moment where JLund power tripped over Canada's government terminology despite being corrected by several Canadian citizens

But anyway, his comments in this thread already speak for themselves.
Edit: people sometimes question why I try to avoid overcentralization on LW. That mod mods both !politics@lemmy.world, !news@lemmy.world and !world@lemmy.world, three of the most active communities on the whole platform.
Or the time he said anything on the substack platform (ie only had substack in the footer) meant it was a blog therefore not allowed. See dropsitenews.com.
Then when asked what it would take to allow it had to keep moving goal posts as users pointed out it was already being done except for the substack footer.
- custom domain
- news org with credible journalists
I see lemmy.world and I just say "PTB!" and I skip the details. :)
PTB!
instance block and move on 👍
I'm the top mod of !news@lemmy.world
The OP of this post was an ass, but the original post was corrected.
I've restored that post. I'm also talking with all mods about this whole thing.
Sorry I didn't see it sooner. Family medical issues has been my sole focus all week.
I'll respond to this comment if I have anything further to say about this incident.
Hope your family is okay now, that sucks.
Ye Power Trippin' Bastards
This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
