Not the full happy ending that's deserved though...

Now if he had gotten luigi'd on the other hand....

The tennis player, or the kid? /s

That's awesome. Good on him!

[-] Suburbanl3g3nd@lemmings.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Not really. He only did it because he got caught and is being public shat on. If no one saw this, he would've never done anything to make this right for the kid

Edit: My bad. Misread this. Good on the player for doing something nice. Fuck the rich prick still

[-] qfe0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 2 months ago

The CEO didn't do shit. The tennis player did the good thing.

[-] Suburbanl3g3nd@lemmings.world 7 points 2 months ago

My bad. Misread.

[-] neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

You might need to reread that news article. Or maybe read it for the first time.

[-] Suburbanl3g3nd@lemmings.world 5 points 2 months ago

My bad. Misread.

[-] Chip_Rat@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Which is totally what the CEO was planing to do anyways and definitely wasn't because he was caught on camera and then publicly shamed.

[-] thomasloven@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

The tennis player did. Not the CEO.

[-] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 129 points 2 months ago

“The recent incident at the tennis match has caused a disproportionate online uproar. It’s all about the famous hat, of course. Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I’ve always said, life is first come, first served,” he claimed.

This guy is a piece of shit.

[-] Hawk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 69 points 2 months ago

He also threatened to sue everyone 1-starring his business and claimed their IP addresses were given to police.

Real piece of work, hope people won't forget about this

[-] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 40 points 2 months ago

Ohh no, that's terrible. Where should I avoid 1-starring him? Like, what urls specifically?

[-] modus@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

Be careful! He's giving your IP to the police.

[-] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

How can I fake my IP to be 127.0.0.1?

[-] x00z@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

Hey that one is mine. You'll get me in trouble.

[-] modus@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Use a VPN, bruh. Completely unhackable and untraceable. Especially the free ones.

[-] Jyek@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 months ago

Because the police will do anything at all. Giving negative reviews is not a crime. And a lawsuit is not criminal court. The police will not get involved.

[-] Psythik@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

You know everyone is going to forget by next week; hell, by tomorrow.

[-] GoodTransKitty@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 months ago

Wouldn’t mind if a Luigi takes the CEO out.

This is such a good representation of how the rich steal the wealth.

[-] MrSmith@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

"Trickle-down economy"

[-] okmko@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Pretty much. I feel like the very well idea of amassing is at odds with being egalitarian.

[-] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 99 points 2 months ago

Rich asshole who has everything he could ever want, including a hat sees someone being kind to a child and rushes in to make sure the intended kindness goes to him.

He's like this 100% of the time, guaranteed. Being an absolute piece of shit like this is rewarded under capitalism, which is why he's a CEO.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 19 points 2 months ago

A LOT of backstabbing in this guy's past.

[-] Revan343@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago

Frontstabbing too I bet

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 61 points 2 months ago

If this is how he treats a small boy at a tennis match while being filmed, imagine how badly he treats his customers and staff behind closed doors.

[-] don@lemmy.ca 60 points 2 months ago

Hope that fuckstick goes bankrupt and then homeless.

[-] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 37 points 2 months ago

Ban him from buying tickets or being the guest of anyone from all professional tennis competitions for unsportsmanlike conduct.

[-] Tuuktuuk@sopuli.xyz 33 points 2 months ago

Wait, isn't this actually a crime, a robbery? The hat was very clearly being given to the child, not to the asshat.

When he took it, it belonged either to Kamil Majchrzak, the tennis player giving the hat to the boy, or to the boy, Brock, it was being given to. I'd say a police investigation and a punishment of some kind would definitely make sense here. If you steal from a child like that, you should get registered as having made a crime.

[-] hanrahan@piefed.social 20 points 2 months ago

This is liie the killing thing, kill one perosn its.murder, kill several thosand you're a war hero.

Fuck over one kod, you're a monster, fuck over millions you're the Presodent of the US, or in charge of a bank or medical insurer.

These asshats get this rich by being like this, not sure why the angst in this specific case.

[-] ozymandias@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 months ago

people are simple, especially emotionally.
show someone a powerpoint presentation about how this guy is stealing from millions of children: little to no response.
a clear video of him stealing directly from a child: people mad.
plus there’s a lot of videos of people catching a baseball and giving it to the nearest kid… having some sports hero’s hat as an adult is nothing compared to the joy a kid would get out of it.

Love how the company name just translates to "drug use" in Swedish.

[-] TachyonTele@piefed.social 4 points 2 months ago

Looks like they're together, like a family of four, and the father who also is a ceo put the hat in thier bag so they don't lose it while trying to get as much signed as possible.

I hope none of it is valuable.

Bootlickers be bootlicking

[-] NotJohnSmith@feddit.uk 4 points 2 months ago

So we're saying that child wasn't his son, that he is the piece of shit that the video makes him out to be?

Just that I read your link and it didn't clearly state as much

[-] uhmbah@lemmy.ca 19 points 2 months ago
[-] Uncurious3512@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Holy heck, the CEO's response:

“The recent incident at the tennis match has caused a disproportionate online uproar. It’s all about the famous hat, of course. Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I’ve always said, life is first come, first served,” he claimed.

“I understand that some people might not like it, but please, let’s not make a global scandal out of the hat. It’s just a hat. If you were faster, you would have it. Regarding online hate, I remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations will be analyzed for the possibility of taking the matter to court.

“In the end, chin up, hats off, less venom, more sportsmanship.”

[-] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

Guy sounds like a shitpump

[-] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

I don't think that looks like a healthy father son interaction. My reaction would be to hype three cap to him and offer a photo, not to snatch, put in a bag and proceed to ignore the son who's clearly distressed.

I'm not a piece of shit father, YMMV

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 months ago

The reaction by the kids is clearly asking for help either way, and he knew he’d never see that hat again if he didn’t protest like he did.

If the CEO was his dad, he’s abusive and an asshole. Might be both anyway from the CEO’s response and actions afterward.

Okay moving past you being entirely wrong, we'll just put that aside for a second. I am fascinated how your apparent reading of body language. Because that video in no way shows a family. It shows a guy snatching something from a child and the child clearly showing outrage that they were just robbed. We're on Earth do you get that as a family unit? Even ignoring that they don't look anything alike.

You don't have to make up fanfic about how the person being a dickhead to a child must be right just because he's a CEO.

This isn't publicfreakout on reddit.

[-] Taleya@aussie.zone 18 points 2 months ago

I thought the same...then his response landed. He took it because he saw it as his. Absolute shitwig
