So, in order to subscribe to those communities I should create another account in a different instance that either has them or is federated with them, right….? Any workaround for that? This sounds like it’s going to be a real chore to follow and will push a lot of people out of lemmy in general

One thing is to see a massive stadium half-empty, but an almost empty barn is just sad, and DeSantis should feel sad.

I always thought that VPN (or any other means of hiding your IP) is a necessary but not sufficient step to prevent online tracking. Is this not correct? I don't think that using GChrome with a VPN will do much, in the same way as using hardened browsers without VPN will do much. It might depend on the thread model.

I haven't seen Nord being recommended in a privacy focus forum in forever. Not sure about their relationship with law enforcement, but I had the understanding that they would benefit from selling your data. Might have to research a bit more before my protonvpn renewal comes.

This site might just solve the main issue I had with discoverability in Lemmy, thanks!

Let's keep the upvotes to the post/comment only, do not show the overall of a user and don't take it into account in any algorithmic decision. Let community managers see the 'karma' of the user in their respective community maybe, but beyond that it's a feature that only had negative implications on Reddit

*Laughs in European. Cheapest I found was 65 euros 'with free shipping'. I regret going for a Chinese band instead for the same total cost due to the 'overpaying' fallacy.

I have installed a few chat applications through flatpak (teams with Edge and "Whatsapp for Linux"). In both cases I can't paste images or drag files. I can paste text and I can upload files through the GUI. I imagine this is likely due to a permission that can be set through Flatseal. Anybody can help?
