knowing the context that the person who said "lets go" is gay (as in homosexual, not insult), finally made me understand the whole thread.

edit to add: ooh I didn't know what is this community, I just browse the locals feed. hi guys don't mind me I'm just passing.

Why does the community matter? The sidebar says onehundredninetysix doesn’t have a theme and just kind of posts whatever. Have I been missing meaning this whole time?

[-] enbiousenvy 4 points 1 day ago

oh mb, I was only quick skimming the sidebar, didn't realize there's a paragraph that says no theme and directly compares to 196 im terms of vibe (for the lack of proper wording).

I thought this community was about specific niche like tv shows, judging by the name "onehundredninetysix" looks like tv show name, but I just realize is just 196 😭

And thats why I thought the cartoon artworks on the profile pictures of the post are the show's characters 🤣 but I'm pretty much clueless about what's going on.

wait, did she get pushed ahead like 2 years. why would she be graduating at 16?

a 25 year old being attracted to an 18 year old really isn't weird to me...

edit: also, how the fuck does saying that to a graduation post even imply attraction. the critical commentor in that post is just being a dumb asshole.

Wouldn't have to necessarily be that much depending on when school cutoff was for her. Like I didn't skip any grades at all and I turned 17 during my senior year just because of when my birthday falls in the year. I was born just before the cutoff and was allowed to start kindergarten at 4. So it really wouldn't take much as all for someone in a similar boat to what I was to graduate at 16.

To answer your other question, there are a ton of people who think that literally the only reason someone male presenting would talk to a woman is to try to have sex with them.

“I am telling you, Oscar is attracted to other men.”

“Ok, too far.”

Fun fact, she's voiced by the same actress as the MCUs Kate Bishop (basically Hawkeye Jr)

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
