I wish he could be treated like every other long winded short sighted senior, and be medicated and sat in the reclining bed. He has nothing helpful to add.

[-] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

I wish he could be treated like every other long winded short sighted felon, and be in a prison.

[-] b161 100 points 1 week ago

Thanks for everything Joe!

Hey at least the one and only time he went low and broke decorum was so he could pardon his own son. And the other 1200 people a week later when he realized how bad the optics were.

And just to get ahead of those people. I'm not necessarily mad he pardoned his son. I'm mad there only time he broke decorum was for his own personal interests and not the American people's.

[-] toast@retrolemmy.com 16 points 1 week ago

That's what makes me mad, too. That and the genocide.

[-] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 67 points 1 week ago

One official act during the debate and you could have prevented all this Joe.

[-] entwine413@lemm.ee 35 points 1 week ago

It didn't even have to be official. He's old enough he would have died of old age before seeing jail time.

[-] prole 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah dude, and I'm sure "he was going to win and build concentration camps within 3 months, I swear!" would totally have been a sufficient explanation for everyone.

People on this site are so fucking dumb, I swear.

[-] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 22 points 1 week ago

He doesn't need to explain. Whatever he did wouldn't have been illegal if it was an official act. Also Trump is demonstrably a fucking traitor so he could have used that as justification.

[-] Mbourgon@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Oh I’m sure the Supreme Court would have smacked that down if it was a Dem.

[-] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 9 points 1 week ago

Well we're not so sure presidents even have to listen to the supreme court now are we?

[-] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

We were pretty sure right up until one didn't.

Trump is dead set on making sure that only one thing can a stop him. No one should be surprised when it happens.

Maybe the people on social security should stop voting for rapists/terrorists/felons/morons...?

Drumpf said he didn't care about you. He SAID IT. Yet you still voted for him because you're a stupid PoS. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah but who are you going to believe?

The guy who said it

Or the guy on Facebook who said he didn't mean it?

I don't think anyone wants to hear from Biden at this point. He by all accounts did his level best to put his ego ahead of the good of the people of the country which did nothing but help further Trump's talking points.

Fuck you, Biden. You got us here. YOU did breathtaking damage to the republic, because you and the rest of the non-fascist politicians were so unforgivably out of touch that you lost the fucking republic. Please die and save us your bloviating idiocy.

[-] ChristmasApe@discuss.online 41 points 1 week ago

Couldn’t have done it without you, Joe.

[-] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 12 points 1 week ago

Biden is the only person to defeat the Orange Turd so don’t go to rough on him.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago

Biden is also the only person to fail to ensure a coup-leading traitor got prosecuted and thus presided over the fall of US democracy. I'll go as rough on him as I can for that, thank you very much!

[-] bishbosh@lemm.ee 3 points 6 days ago

So hilarious to come to this discussion a few days later and see every post about this particular failing goes unanswered. Even the ride or die Biden people that seem to still want to die on his hill can't really handle the how much he fumbled it.

I'm just gonna say it. The only reason Biden won was because Trumps response to covid was so abysmal that people were genuinely spooked. Had covid not happened I think Biden would've lost. Part of me also thinks we'd be in a better spot rn had Trump won in 2020 since the right wouldn't have had four years to consolidate and get more extreme.

[-] blakenong@lemmings.world 12 points 1 week ago

Yeah I agree. It would have been 4 years of BS, but nothing like this. He had 4 years to plan. We would be enjoying a democrat as president today.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 1 week ago

He BARELY scraped a victory against the most unpopular incumbent since Ford pardoned Nixon, if not ever. He won the popular vote by a smaller percentage than Hillary did when she lost the EC.

He ABSOLUTELY does not deserve credit for barely passing the lowest possible bar and then digging a hole under it for Harris to fall into.

[-] blakenong@lemmings.world 9 points 1 week ago

Joe had nothing to do with it lol. There was always a “not Trump” option.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 14 points 1 week ago

An option so terrible that being not Trump was not enough to get it to the White House.

[-] Buffalox@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

How was Harris a terrible option?
Or was it because she is a woman, and because of her color?

USA got what they deserved.

Yes Biden was maybe mediocre, but how does that justify not preventing a flaming fascist sociopath from taking the office? It wasn't Biden that elected Trump, it was the Americans.
Blaming Biden for it is idiotic.

[-] VanillaFrosty@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

She was offering 50k tax breaks to small business and 20k down payments for first time home buyers, great on paper. But 70% of Americans work paycheck to paycheck, so they can't utilize that. And her healthcare for all became healthcare for some became expanding the ACA. So no help for the majority of people.

And when asked if she'd change anything, she declined. But then suddenly changed her mind and said she'd add a Republican to the cabinet. Further alienating the 70% of people that work paycheck to paycheck and anyone who understand what Republicans are. Can't forget parading around with good ol Liz too. Really winning with that one.

When asked the simple question of "Should trans people exist?" Her answer was they should follow the law. Disgusting. Unwilling to acknowledge somes right to exist in hopes of courting centrists. Instead pushing away both sides.

Her and Biden continued the genocide despite loud outcry from progressives. If progressives are such a tiny a faction that they aren't worth catering to with policy, then you can't be mad when you didn't get their vote. And if you think it's their fault the Dems lost then you should still be mad at the Dems for alienating them.

Honestly I agree with you that the US got what it deserved. But not because of its vote, rather because what we've become. Your options are continuing the status quo (ya know that one with 70% of people being pay check to pay check) or fascism. There was no right choice for most people. And I find it funny how privileged libs are to think there was.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 11 points 1 week ago

Sigh. Gaza genocide? Immigration, including the border wall? Most lethal army in the world? The total lack of commitment to a serious social welfare plan (by election day her promises were all either completely ignored or watered down beyond recognition)? Her disdain for all her voters left of Reagan and especially the massive anti-war faction? Including Republicans in her cabinet? "Nothing comes to mind? I try not to be rude in these interactions, but you should think before you say these things. Harris 2024 was going to accomplish nothing except be an appetizer for Trump 2028, because she had nothing to offer to the people who were hurting and looking for anything resembling help.

but how does that justify not preventing a flaming fascist sociopath from taking the office?

Who do you want to justify their actions to you? It doesn't matter whether it's justified for not; it happened, it was always going to happen and whenever someone tried to prevent it people like you would scream "but fascism" not realizing they're only helping the fascists.

The supreme court made him a king. He had every right and ability to prevent ALL OF THIS, and he just whined his way out of office.

No shit. Fuck off joe, you didn't do shit to stop it,

[-] BigBenis@lemmy.world 32 points 1 week ago

No shit, Joe! Your insistence on holding into power when it was clear that's not what the people wanted enabled this. Your legacy will forever be tarnished by your inability to accept reality before it was too late.

I love how all Americans in the comments are mad at Biden for not stopping Trump when they all elected him to office to begin with lol.

I guess it all starts making sense when you look closer at it. The education level in that country really is circling the drain.

[-] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 39 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

all Americans… they all

Trump won with less than 30% of the population’s vote. And even now, he only has an ~30% approval rating. It certainly isn’t “all” Americans. It isn’t even “most” Americans. But sure, speaking about an entire country as a single monolith makes the circlejerk easy.

[-] gregs_gumption@lemm.ee 23 points 1 week ago

He won with less than 30% of the populations vote because most Americans decided facism wasn't that bad so they stayed home. People who didn't vote for Harris or encouraged others not to vote for Harris looked at what Trump was selling and decided they'd like to buy.

[-] WetBeardHairs@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

Don't forget the hundreds of bomb threats against voting locations in blue districts. Or the hundreds of thousands of voters that were de-registered without their knowledge. Or the fact that getting an ID can take up to 6 months, even for a renewal. Or that voting locations were redistributed out of blue cities and into red suburbs.

I'm not sure I buy that teh election was stolen with rigged tabulation. But millions of votes were suppressed, especially in swing states.

It's quite literally Biden & Garland's fault that Trump is not currently in prison.

[-] carrion0409@lemm.ee 22 points 1 week ago

Whatever dude. Biden can go lick a light socket for all I care. He knew this shit would happen and did absolutely nothing about it for 4 years then when it came time to let Kamala run he fucked her over on his way out and condemned us to this.

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 16 points 1 week ago

Who cares what that guy thinks? He's a distant memory.

It will be destroyed just like the rest of the government. Putin’s agent has been given control of our country by MAGAts and their supporters.

[-] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 week ago

I sometimes think about what would have happened if Biden stood up to the DNC bosses in 2016 and ran in the primary. He probably couldn’t do much against the Clinton machine, but maybe just enough to make it more competitive. Divide the corporate Dem vote just enough…

[-] PointyReality@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

This comment section is truly something else, when all your rights are stripped away and the US descends further into fascism are you going to continue to blame the Democrats or realise the choice to vote against Trump was also an option?

Tough decision I know vote for the status quo where everyone was still relatively comfortable and all had rights or not vote and let the fascists in and watch all your rights get stripped.

Edit: The leopards are feasting on those that voted for Trump as well as those that did not vote at all.

[-] return2ozma@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

Biden gave us Trump. Blame his ego.

[-] PointyReality@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Nah, I blame those that did not vote. Given how load Trumps campaign was in their rhetoric means if you did not vote at all is just as good as voting for him. Democrats messaging my ass, atop blaming others when the non-voters need to look at themselves and ask themselves why did they allow this to happen when it was well within their power and right to stop it.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

How about blaming those who put a candidate forth people did not want to vote for

I don't hold Orwell in high regard, but this take seemed too inhumane and idiotic even for him. And it is, he actually never said this.

It's takes like this that lead people to conclude that Americans deserved 9/11 for what their government did in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc etc up to Iraq in the gulf war. Or that Israelis deserved October 7th for what their government did during the nakba, sabra and shatila, etc etc. Americans did not deserve 9/11, Israelis did not deserve October 7th. They are not complicit in the crimes of their rulers. Especially when you operate in a two party system where both parties are completely and utterly beholden to billionaires.

[-] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

Especially when you operate in a two party system where both parties are completely and utterly beholden to billionaires.

Whose fault is that? I'd say that is on the shoulders of the American people.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

If Biden really wanted to help the country and reaffirm any semblance of a rule of law he'd fly himself to the Hague and accept responsibility for the genocide and war crimes he abetted.

Anything short of that is just more self indulgent ego tripping on his part. Buy the ticket, Joe. You either support the rule of law or you dont. At long last, would you please pick one.
