.ml? hope they know.
what's wrong with my instance? its a real question, i dont use lemmy that often
Extremely sensitive admins who ban people from all communities for any criticism of China, Cuba and North Korea.
It's a running joke on Lemmy at this point.
So these socialist admins banned some people from all socialist communities. Then the liberal admins from the largest instances banned all socialists from all instances as collective punishment. Because... authoritarianism?
I mean that explanation doesn't explain why the socialist instances are all pre-banned and pre-censored on the mainstream instances. Which makes the poster perfect irony.
They banned people from all communities on their instance, not just political ones.
I assume you're talking about Lemmy world? They didn't ban all socialists from all instances as that's impossible. They defederated from hexbear and lemmygrad because they saw how toxic their userbase was. They're still federated with lemmy.ml because their users behave normally.
oops, i should migrate
Jokes are funny. the Triad is barely amusing.
They do, look at their unbelievably purple prose. This person thinks they're the modern day Lenin or something.
Fortunately it seems a number of us steered people towards other servers like BlahajZone, LemmyWorld, and SlrPnk.
Could we get a brief explanation for why those are bad too? I left a different instance because they removed down votes, but I just picked world because I saw more posts and comments from them at the time. It's been more mixed lately
Haha who the hell made this? This reads like a basement dwellers wet dream. "fight the man! Fight the machine!.....from our keyboards!"
Does it wax poetic? Yeah, sure.
Is it right? Yes.
Is it from our keyboards? So what? That's how it starts. If we don't congregate and open communication about what's happening in a space where we can't be censored, then there's no chance of anything in opposition happening.
It borders on cringe, but I support it 100%.
It's a little bit dramatic, it's a little bit wordy.
Yup, it probably is a genuine thing from the source: certainly, it was written by a redditor.
"Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
Yeah, this is a terminally online manifesto that I couldn't even get through. It's roleplay and storytelling, which is what our species is great at, but it doesn't connect with reality beyond that.
Look guys, if you want to engage in some kind of organized social action that will actually make a difference, turn off social media entirely. You moving from reddit to lemmy feels good in a micro-narrative, but nobody cares, it won't change anything for anyone. It's not bad, but it's not some heroic action either.
You can do so, so much more for the causes you care about by GOING THE FUCK OUTSIDE.
You can do so, so much more for the causes you care about by GOING THE FUCK OUTSIDE.
I mean....it all starts with communication, right?
This platform is a source for communication. One that isn't affected by corporate goons and Nazis the way Reddit is. The internet is literally the most effective form of communication if used properly. Yeah, you eventually have to go outside and get dirty, but it starts places like this.
We shouldn't be putting this post down. It's not productive.
I think that you can leave reddit and do other meaningful things as well. In fact it might even help you do so. And being a little dramatic might just be what some people need as a push to do it. I didn't get through all of this either, but then I have already left there.
runs from censorship
goes to Lemmy.ml
I think that kind of defeats your point here
.world straight up blocks /c/piracy and "preemptively" blocked hexbear.
So they took the initiative to stop Hexbear brigading and spamming their authoritarian bootlicking on their instance? Good choice.
They blocked piracy for like a day over a year ago and then unblocked it when the users were clearly against it.
Hexbear being blocked is a good thing and overwhelmingly supported by the users.
They blocked piracy for like a day over a year ago and then unblocked
Still blocked for me. Every time I click !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com returns a "couldnt_find_community" error message.
I'm a .world user:
You're loading into the main dbzero webpage, not pulling the data into your .world instance.
Here is what I see on my end:
lemmy.dbzer0.com then? 😎
- blocking hexbear is a good idea
- ~~world unblocked priacy instances over a year ago~~ with the notable exception of the db0 instance
World went back and banned dbo piracy comm after banning then unbanning when people noticed
revolutions are born in monents like these
Holy shit can this whole thing be any more corny? Is this done by teenagers? Don’t get me wrong fuck Musk/reddit/etc. but what is even the outrage about this time?
Is this done by teenagers?
Quite possibly. There'd be no real way of knowing. But it does sound like young people trying to find an outlet and seeking change--as ineffectual as it may seem to jaded old timers.
Subreddits are being banned and important information being hindered from being seen. It may be corny to you but at least they're trying. What have you done?
I limited my internet time to just an hour or two a day and stopped caring about any of this worthless performative BS.
If there are causes you care about or actions you want to take to impact the world and make a difference, GOING THE FUCK OUTSIDE does so, so much more than this kind of roleplay teenage bullshit. Moving your worthless scrolling time from one website to another isn't going to bring the establishment to its knees. But going out and donating a box of socks and underwear to a community food bank will literally change someone's life.
You assume that because I'm discussing these things online that I don't take action. Not that it's any of your business but I'm going to a community cleanup tomorrow. I'll be bringing a chair and watching people pick up litter.
I'm not sure if I share the exact same sentiment as @mint_tamas@lemmy.world, but I honestly did have the thought of, "Who (or For Whom), does this format work for anymore?"
Like I get it, it's classical and all. A call back to a historic time where action was taken (just don't look into it too hard, you'll get disappointed if you learn outside the "Americuh" version). But, now it just feels a little ... disingenuous? Idk the exact word/feeling, maybe because it's been co-opted by so many bad actors or maybe that we're talking about social media websites.
I guess this format gives off a dude's "Love, Live, Laugh" version of righteousness, that even though the message may be correct, it just feels like a weird marketing technique.
OK I laughed at dudes version if live laugh love. 😂 Either way we're fucked I guess. I have my gun ready to act but I'm sure as hell not dying by myself.
Imagine running from censorship and going to Lemmy.ml lmao
Right? Way to destroy a movement and make a bunch of people run back to Reddit and "never again".
This was on /r/anarchocommunism. It's no great loss of they stay on Reddit.
Honestly for the subreddit this was made for .ml is probably the best fit and I'm okay with keeping them over there.
Having them pointed towards lemmy.ml is a little concerning.
To be fair, it was apparently posted in r/anarchocommunism, so I'd just chalk it up to knowing your audience. At least it was just .ml, and not grad or hexbear!
I'd say that's even more tone-deaf then. Anarchists hate tankies.
Not always, IRL they seem to get along pretty well
I made an alternative linking to lemm.ee
because in general this is a good flyer
i left yesterday after 12 years. joined lemmy. the internet was a lot cooler before it was run by billionaires and ass kissers who are intimidated by billionaires.
fuck em all
