This ain’t boring. It’s terrifying.

Just FYI Canadians, don’t get fooled when people say California is “leftist”. Check out recent referendum results, they voted against abolishing slavery (for prisoners) and in favour of the death penalty for example. They are only “leftist” in relation to the neofacist US’s overton window.

Is there literally anything only men like?

There are male biased things, ie. gaming, woodworking, wingsuiting, cimbing etc.

but are there any things literally only males like?

Summary

Misinformation about USAID funding is spreading online, fueled by the Trump administration and Elon Musk. Some examples:

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt falsely claimed USAID funded projects like a $70,000 DEI musical in Ireland and a $47,000 transgender opera in Colombia—both actually funded by the State Department.

Social media posts also falsely alleged Politico received $8–34 million from USAID when it only received $44,000 in subscription fees.

Experts warn that these misleading claims obscure rational discussion as the Trump administration moves to dismantle USAID.

Summary

A Canadian task force detected a "coordinated and malicious" online campaign linked to China, targeting Chrystia Freeland, a candidate to replace Justin Trudeau as prime minister.

The campaign was traced to a WeChat news account linked to the Chinese government, with over 30 accounts participating. China’s embassy has not responded, but Beijing has denied interference allegations.

This follows previous claims of Chinese election meddling.

Freeland stated she "will not be intimidated." Trudeau remains PM until a new Liberal leader is chosen on March 9.

Summary

A German government report reveals a surge in Russian disinformation on X ahead of Germany’s Feb. 23 election, driven by the Kremlin-backed Doppelgänger operation.

This network uses fake news sites, sleeper accounts, and AI-generated content to spread false narratives, mainly targeting Germany’s support for Ukraine.

Coordinated bot activity spiked dramatically in January, with thousands of posts daily. Berlin is intensifying countermeasures, collaborating with allies, and considering sanctions.

The campaign mirrors past Russian election interference across Europe, highlighting ongoing cybersecurity threats.

Made with copilot.

Trying to get something that portrays what living with a neurodegenerative disease is like — that stage where you still have an understanding of the world around you — but the sort of outputs you make start becoming gibberish, chaotic, as if the wires became connected to the wrong outlets.

Yeah. join-lemmy.org unfortunately isn’t great because it often points to random semi dead instances.

Something like,

The instance you join doesn’t matter much — because you can access all content no matter what instance you are on — but it can be nice to be on an instance that shares you interests and values, because you will have to conform to the rules of that instance. Think of it like your clan — it’s like your email being yourname@yourworkplace — you can still email everyone else and see their emails, but it signals something about you, and it has different rules.

Here are a couple options:

General Purpose:

  • discuss.online (hosted US)

Some people with long COVID are confined to their beds with lifelong damage, some are even tubefed, or have lost the ability to speak.

We gotta start taking this seriously instead of erasing it!

(Also murders and discredits civil rights activists in the 60s-80s, so that’s a thing to keep in mind…)

This is not mildly infuriating. It’s devastating.
