"we're gonna play in the creek"

I've heard worse euphemisms for sex.

I mean, she is a real billionaire.

Americans who got lucky in life have a bad habit of shrugging off the majority that didn't as somehow irresponsible and not worth considering.

My cousin does this. Looks at you like you're speaking a foreign language when you say you can't afford something that would make your life easier like replacing a malfunctioning appliance right now.

Privilege is a bubble of willful ignorance akin to the Republican bubble.

I hear you, and that's a valid point, but I see that more as a function of our insatiable need for the primary driver of our destruction: growth/metastasis.

Growth is precisely what is destroying us. We need to find homeostasis with this world. We need to slow down, stop expanding supply chains, and work on making what powers these 100% clean first and foremost. Because right now, most electrics are functionally dirty too, their pollution just happens higher up the chain.

We won't do that of course, because the reality is most people in the developed world need to accept that wasteful things like fast food, ridiculous amounts of meat, and plastic that serves no necessary purpose, everything from pop figures to disposable water bottles available to people with reusable vessels out of convenience, need to be made illegal yesterday if we want our species to have a decent future.

But our creature comforts are more important to us, and we will punish any politicians that try to call for genuine sacrifice. πŸ”₯🀷πŸ”₯

I love my wife, she can't drive for shit though, nor does she respect vehicle maintenence, much less asthetic care.

Nope.

Also, she's literally told me she'd be afraid to drive my car precisely because I keep it so nice and she doesn't want to be responsible for fucking it up.

It's a Tesla problem in that it is a bumrushing tech that hasn't matured for what it's being used for because profit motive.

And no, if the tech isn't mature to be both useful AND safe in the event of failure operating in the world, it belongs in the lab, not up for sale.

We shouldn't be mass producing any vehicles that become bombs/environmental disasters that standard fire and rescue can't appropriately address with reasonable tools upon crashing, because they inevitably will.

Its a market capitalism problem. Fire, ready, aim because rush the pos to sale. Musk is certainly a standard bearer as a prominent "get government and society's wellbeing out of the way of my quarterly profit expectations" asshole sociopath capitalist.

Awesome!

Now lets collude to sell it for $12 minimum an ounce, and use our wealth/media bully pulpit/bribed legislators to sue/buy out/threaten/slander any interlopers who attempt to make lemonade honestly at low margins for a reasonable price!

No matter how many times Republicans fight to revoke their rights, or disinvite them from their conventions, they just don't learn Republicans would Holocaust them if they could.

All for what? Because they're literally more passionate about tax cuts/cheats for rich fuck societal leeches than their very existence being protected in society.

"Sorry we don't live our lives for the opportunity to destroy ourselves for senpai company owner like you."

My supervisor doesn't know how to maintain what I build, despite me attempting to show her. At this point, we openly pity each other, her because I have no desire to do more than what my job entails, take the paycheck, and leave to go live my life, and I because she proudly has no life to go home to because she spends 12 hours a day plus here acting like Jesus on the cross for the greedy, indifferent owner.

This is what I think of when the optimists still think they can save humanity from its own greedy, short sighted, self-destructive nature as the world literally begins to burn by our own hands after a century of warning:

We're monkeys that are just smart enough to develop technologies we are still too bone dead stupid to wield responsibly. Unless we accidentally create a benevolent, hyperintelligent AGI in our pursuit of yet another tool for manipulation and greed that saves us from our own nature, extremely unlikely, this only ends one way. We are who we are and the tools we've fashioned have become dangerous enough to crush us under the weight of their capability, without one iota of temperance aka "maybe growth/metastasis should stop being our only goal" by anyone in power.

And somewhat ironically, the "our species can still turn it around! live in hope!" types are the same ones deadset against revolution to force those living large off destroying the planet to stop in a physical way. Something something cake, something something eat it too. This ain't a movie, for humanity to have a future, we'd need to starve this and the next couple generations and tear down the polluting supply chains to live with nature again (like all those humans that did live with nature until they were genocided so someone with a flag could steal the resources under their feet) and bring our species down from the overpopulation cancer we've become, but we won't entertain the reality that we can't support 8 billion people sustainably, we made a dire mistake attempting to, and the species needs to drastically, painfully downsize to have any future at all. So we will burn in the Earth's fever until homeostasis is restored.

"It's become appallingly clear that our technology has surpassed our humanity."

-Albert Einstein

But by all means, keep trying to eat that cotton candy. I just hope it makes you happy doing it so it isn't entirely without a point.

Capitalists:

The capitalists do trickle down onto the rest of America, it just isn't prosperity. Even worse, we export our sociopathic market capitalist behavior, encouraging other nations to treat their citizenry like disposable capital batteries for their elites... and our multinational oligarch leeches.

I feel shame for what we're doing to the world every damn day, spreading market capitalist hypergreed and tools of mass death like a fucking virus.

Would I hurt other people in some strange hypothetical to literally save my family's life from certain death? Maybe, and I'd be guilt ridden about it for the rest of my life.

Would I hurt people to make more money? Of course not, and that's not a defensible reason to hurt others... at all, and it makes you deeply broken at your core, especially as habit.

Really the only thing I can think of as a more horrifying reason to be cruel to others than "for money herp derp" would be "because its fun!"

Hurting others for profit in the name of business shouldn't be a defense, it should be considered an admission of guilt and come with consequences.
