it feels like everything is designed to funnel money into antidepressant distributors these days instead of actually solving why people are depressed

im sorry to hear that

They're getting their return on investment after buying "our" politicians here in the States.

My doctor tried to send me to a psychiatrist before prescribing HRT, I told her thanks but no thanks, I know who I am. Not sure where you live, but Planned Parenthood doesn't bat an eye. Hope you can find a solution.

i wanted to go to therapy to sort things out without transitioning (i can't transition for another at least 2 years because i'm a minor), i'm pretty sure that i'll screw things up if i don't get help

about planned parenthood, i was planning to move the us when i completed high school but after the last election i don't think they will be able to give hrt this easily when trump is midway through his presidency

I'm in NY, we're pretty blue here and PP is where I get my HRT from. If Trump takes that away, I'll go DIY. We also passed Prop 1, hopefully that sticks...

Could be a poor quality psychiatrist, too. HRT is a legitimate way to address the cause of the depression. Granted, in my ex's experience, she had to do a few therapy sessions before they'd accept that as a root cause but she was able to do it without parental involvement since she had just started going to college.

This was in Texas, btw, but long before it was a hot button issue (18 yrs ago, I think). Shame how it seems worse now, somehow.

Sorry to hear your appointment didn't go well. :( are your parents unsupportive of your transition? Hope you're safe. We're here for you.

I'm pretty sure that they're not supportive, they didn't learn that I'm trans or anything so I'm fine-ish.

Appointment wasn't bad but wasn't really good either, she told me that pills were for to down dysphoria ramblings.

I’m sorry 🍯

I'm not sure if they would notice if you took hormone blockers, might be able to pass off as a "late bloomer" until you can get hrt.

I would need the puberty blockers prescribed to me, as I don't have money to buy those myself, and my parents could look up what the medicine does
