Next administration will probably sweep stuff like this under the rug and tell people to eat more carrots to build nAtUrAl ImMuNiTy.

"You can't prove it DOESN'T work."

"Yes we can. There are literally thousands of studies proving exactly that."

[-] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

"But it works for meeee!"

Just have them add a tablepoon of yesterday's stool to your morning raw milk smoothie

[-] toiletobserver@lemmy.world 23 points 3 days ago

Carbon? In my carrots? HELL no

[-] Mildetoast@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Sounds like what a synth would say!

[-] The_v@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

FYI there is only two suppliers of carrots in the U.S.: Grimmway and Bolthouse.

This one is Grimmway.

So if you have organic carrots, double check on this one.

There's a full list of affected brands for both baby carrots and whole carrots here:

https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/grimmway-farms-recalls-organic-whole-and-select-organic-baby-carrots-may-be-consumers-homes-due

It looks like aldi may be affected, and I just bought baby carrots from aldi 😅

But I thought 'organic' produce was the magic, ultra safe produce that makes you super healthy and live forever? No, sorry, it's just very expensive, and it spoils faster.

[-] Catoblepas 5 points 3 days ago

If your organic produce is spoiling quicker it’s probably because it’s not being grown locally and has spent more time in transit than the regular produce; spraying pesticides or using synthetic fertilizer doesn’t really add any preservative properties.

Organic or regular produce from the farmer’s market will beat anything in a supermarket. Alas, it’s a fucking pain in the ass to get to one here and it’s not the cheapest.

[-] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago

Fun fact: organic growers use pesticides. And the food is no healthier.

[-] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Not all organic growers use pesticides.

The reason you buy organic is for the health of the farmworkers and the environment, its not a selfish decision for the consumer's own health

[-] The_v@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Fun fact: Organic production is worse for the environment overall.

It's less damaging per hectare under cultivation, but more hectares are required to produce the same yield. So it's more damaging per kg of production.

I had a bag from the list in my fridge, so appreciate the heads-up!
