It really would be a shame if Project 2025 fell out of the news cycle for any reason
Keep talking about this crazy shit, especially how Trump, trough his VP pick, Vance, is directly tied to it, even as Trump lies and says he is not.

I’m torn, is it giving free press and air time for the worst sides of society? Kind of like in 2016 the time afforded to Trump to try to talk about how horrible and horrifying he is but ended up just giving him a free 24/7 platform?
Look at it this way:
The biggest voting bloc in the US is the unmotivated non-voter who - believe it or not - is vastly liberal but disaffected to the process and the result.
Issues like Protect 2025 motivate these non-voters but only when there’s a realistic opposition candidate that really stands out. Well, kids, that’s what we got in Kamala, and why Trump & Co. are scared shitless.
So, YES, keep talking about this, keep motivating people, because team red will always come at full-strength, but to get the liberal non-voters who feel betrayed by the system to actually get off their asses and vote this election cycle, we all need to make it clear what’s at stake if they sit this one out.
The biggest voting bloc in the US is the unmotivated non-voter who - believe it or not - is vastly liberal but disaffected to the process and the result.
I have no idea if this is true outside of possible Democrat-voters not always voting, but in my conservative area I have been seeing Trump flags come down and right-leaning folks say they may not vote. This is also a reason to push these things. I don't think all conservatives like this sort of talk, either. I agree: "YES, keep talking about this, keep motivating people." I haven't figured out how to get these folks to switch sides but I have figured out how to talk to them. Some of them are not happy.
I'm in the UK. I know of plenty of unmotivated non-voters who are actually quite socially right-wing.
I'm just gonna leave this here.
The book Unhumans, by Jack Posobiec and Joshua Lisec, is a fascist manifesto. It argues that the “Great Men of History” should take their cues from homicidal dictators like Augusto Pinochet and Francisco Franco, reject reason and democracy, and ruthlessly annihilate the gangs of communist “unhumans” who are currently threatening to destroy the United States. It explicitly advocates “eye for an eye” justice, promising a new McCarthyism complete with blacklists, along with the immediate banning of all teachers’ unions. It is perhaps the most paranoid, hateful, and terrifying book I have ever picked up. (I say this as someone who has read Mein Kampf.) And it comes with a warm and supportive blurb from Ohio senator J.D. Vance, who is currently the Republican party’s vice presidential nominee.
Vance had this to say of Unhumans:
In the past, communists marched in the streets waving red flags. Today, they march through HR [Human Resources], college campuses, and courtrooms to wage lawfare against good, honest people. In Unhumans, Jack Posobiec and Joshua Lisec reveal their plans and show us what to do to fight back.
Worth the read, but I'll continue
Unhumans is both a manifesto and a guide for action. Its central argument, which I will state as dispassionately as possible, is that leftists are not fellow human beings who should be accepted as part of a pluralistic society, but rather “unhumans” bent on destroying the civilized order. Citing the usual parade of 20th century communist dictators (Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot), Posobiec and Lisec argue that even if it may not look like the contemporary United States is under threat from a communist revolution, we are under threat, besieged by furtive, scheming unhumans who must be rooted out before they can consummate their fiendish plot to commit mass murder. Stopping the unhumans will require shedding commitments to democracy, free speech, reasoned debate, and tolerance of alternate points of view. Instead, they argue, the right should find its role models in Caesar, Joseph McCarthy, and various murderous anti-communist dictators of the 20th century.
What happens when they're not just saying the quiet part out loud but shouting it from the rooftops and half the country doesn't seem to even notice? Is there a term for this? Like, willful deafness?
You will probably not like this and I for sure don't but there is no denying it anymore. Half the US, or probably more like 30-ish percent, is fascist and/or racist and substantially sprinkled in religious fairy dust. The country harbors persons who are hateful, ignorant, dumb, like to vote against their own interest and easily fooled by con-men and crooks. And again, religion is the root of many issues here.
How this came to be is a whole other story and I partially blame the Dutch and British. Being Dutch myself I want to offer my sincere apologies for this. ask me why I think this is the case and I will try to explain as best as I can.
Half the US, or probably more like 30-ish percent, is fascist
Smedley Butler explained how it worked when businessmen tried to install a fascist government in the 1930s. They would hire 25 people to go out and spread fascist bullshit to dumb folks, then they would go around and spread that bullshit to likewise ignorant folks in their circles. Pretty soon they had thousands spreading the same bullshit to all their neighbors. They continually reinforced the bullshit amongst themselves over and over. Sound familiar?
What do the Dutch have to do with it?
A couple of hunderd years ago there were factions inside England and Holland who were extremely religious, pious and very wary of society as it was at the time. Distrust and disagreement on how society should operate and focus on. These groups were at odds with the rest of society. Mind you, the Dutch had a (relative for the time) relaxed and accepting stance on people with different opinions and/or religion. Not sure how England fared with that at the time though, they could have been more 'strict' as a society. And even in that atmosphere of acceptance and 'you do you' attitude the people of Holland got very annoyed and upset at these fanatical groups, it just clashed with the rest of society. It got to a point where the situation was unsustainable and something had to be done as the people started to realize that these groups would go to any lengths to impose their views and religious understandings on the rest of the country. Ditto for the English I suppose.
At a certain point the English started to ship these people to the colonies, i.e. America. The Dutch had a particular view on the matter. They 'offered' these people two choices:
.
And in doing the forced expulsion of these nutjobs to the other side of the world got rid of the problem. And hence we exported the (as seen at the time at least) unreasonable crazies of the country to America. These people were part of the building and rise of the US, core members of society from an early stage.
Hence my theory and opinion that by exporting the religious crazies who held very odd and fanatical views on how society should be run become part of the 'core' of the US. It is my belief that this caused mayhem and anti-social, entitled morons to be part of the US and we can see the results today.
But I could be wrong of course 😀
Cognitive dissonance.
The fact this book exists is more disturbing than the fact Vance endorsed it. Vance is a grifter who will say whatever he thinks will advance his own personal political power. His belief in this Fascist filth is as genuine as his friendship was with Sofia Nelson.
In many ways, he's more deplorable than actual Fascists because he doesn't actually have a cause or belief he's willing to die for. For spineless cowards like Vance, all that matters is that he gets his, whatever that means for him.
If that means he throws his lot in with the Tech Billionaires, Fascists, and MAGA, so be it.
Ultimately these kinds of books are the only type of "literature" I'd be happy to see burned and their authors exiled to "Angry Whites Only Island," cuz while the US might have been founded by racist monsters, that's not who the vast majority of us want to be or be enslaved to.
So yeah, it's not their country anymore, and if they're gonna spout this much hateful rhetoric against people who just want to love who they want to love, and live how they want to live, then they're the ones who are no longer welcome in the USA, and in many parts of the world. Fuck em. They can fuck off and die.
From what I've heard on interviews with people around him, Vance went off the deep end and believes in this stuff.
Firstly, thank you so much for posting such an in depth summary of that revolting book, I don't think I could stomach going through that vile trash even just to get the gist.
Secondly, it might be true Vance has gone off the deep end. And I just don't know which would make me hate him more.
There's a sick part of me that has a small bit of respect for fascists that actually would be willing to die for their beliefs, as I can identify with that willingness, albeit from the other side of the line. But Vance...nah...he just doesn't strike me as being worth more time than it takes to wipe my ass...yet. But hey, I certainly could be wrong.
the right should find its role models in Caesar, Joseph McCarthy,
Shit. Thanks for reminding me how far one of the tech gurus I remember from my earliest days has fallen. WTF is wrong with people?
Bring Back HUAC by John C Dvorak
To think there was ever a time where this man's opinion was something I looked forward to reading. 🤮
Honestly, I thought the guy was a douchebag since at least the late 90s, IIRC. I cannot remember exactly why I first started getting annoyed with him, but it's not surprising to learn he turned out to be a total asshole.
I always wrote off his cranky boomer schtick as a schtick. Turns out it wasn't one.
Robert C. Martin (Uncle Bob) had a similar trajectory.
Goddammit. I wasn't aware of this about Dvorak. Wtf is wrong with people, indeed.
Really the warning signs were there... ;)
“The Macintosh uses an experimental pointing device called a ‘mouse’. There is no evidence that people want to use these things. I don’t want one of these new fangled devices.”
But in searching for that, I see he's been more consistently wrong than I would ever have believed.
And yet, if I were to advocate for reasonable self-defense against this clear and present threat, I'm the one who would be banned from all social media (up to and including Lemmy).
Stopping the unhumans will require shedding commitments to democracy, free speech, reasoned debate, and tolerance of alternate points of view.
So basically do what they accuse others (with no evidence, naturally) of planning, because something something "freedom" and "liberty".
the right should find its role models in Caesar
The man who exterminated a third of France. I think he's already their role model.
God, the current gen of right wing nut bags is so full of shit about “communism” same as their hero McCarthy.
The older gen Americans, their great grand parents and families basically, ate so, so much social welfare under FDR. The New Deal and its after effects are basically how many middle class Americans made their wealth, and are now upper class or more. So full of shit and hypocritical.
"Unhumans" is straight out of an Orwell novel.
Dehumanization is right out of the fascist handbook isn’t it.
The pizza gate guy was using that exact word in some dumbass rant on his podcast a few weeks ago
His own book is pretty interesting too
"I'll never forget the time I convinced myself that I was gay. I was eight or nine, maybe younger, and I stumbled upon a broadcast by some fire-and-brimstone preacher. The man spoke about the evils of homosexuals, how they had infiltrated our society, and how they were all destined for hell absent some serious repenting. At the time, the only thing I knew about gay men was that they preferred men to women. This described me perfectly: I disliked girls, and my best friend in the world was my buddy Bill. Oh no, I'm going to hell."
When he brought up the issue with his grandmother — known to Vance as "Mamaw" — she replied bluntly: "Don't be a fucking idiot, how would you know that you're gay?"
When Vance explained his reasoning, she laughed.
"JD, do you want to suck dicks?" she said, according to the book.
The young Vance, apparently "flabbergasted," said: "Of course not!"
"Then you're not gay. And even if you did want to suck dicks, that would be okay," she replied. "God would still love you."
"Mamaw, would God still love me if I wanted to fuck the couch?"
We need answers now. Do we need a ouija, or is she still with us?
Some great parenting there...
There’s a guy saying that they went on a date together at an Applebees in high school. Pretty detailed story too.
"unhumans" sounds like something j.k. rowling would say about trans people
Hah, remember when they got their knickers all in a twist because Hillary called them deplorable?
Yeah, but THAT's different!
{stomps feet}
Seems like it needs a good old fashioned review bombing... https://www.amazon.com/Unhumans-Secret-History-Communist-Revolutions/dp/1648210856
Republicans have never forgiven Communists for the fall of Berlin.
The old rules are over. The old order is over. Accusations are evidence. Activism means bigotry and hate. Criminals are allowed to roam free. Citizens are locked up. An appetite for vengeance is unleashed—to deplatform, debank, destroy.
That's some military grade projection

Kinda off-topic but Current Affairs is glorious.
Damn, I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this before. Truly insane that these people are serious candidates.
Is this an accurate summary of the book? Has anyone read it?
How is such dreck even allowed to be published? Freedom of speech is cool and all but surely this crosses the line?
As soon as some dickhead uses the word "lawfare", I know exactly the kind of person they really are.
Also: JD Vance is not only a creepy weirdo, but a truly awful freak.
