Have a sneer percolating in your system but not enough time/energy to make a whole post about it? Go forth and be mid - welcome to the Stubsack, your first port of call for learning fresh Awful you’ll near-instantly regret.

Any awful.systems sub may be subsneered in this subthread, techtakes or no.

If your sneer seems higher quality than you thought, feel free to cut’n’paste it into its own post — there’s no quota for posting and the bar really isn’t that high.

The post Xitter web has spawned so many “esoteric” right wing freaks, but there’s no appropriate sneer-space for them. I’m talking redscare-ish, reality challenged “culture critics” who write about everything but understand nothing. I’m talking about reply-guys who make the same 6 tweets about the same 3 subjects. They’re inescapable at this point, yet I don’t see them mocked (as much as they should be)

Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldn’t be surgeons because they didn’t believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I can’t escape them, I would love to sneer at them.

(Credit and/or blame to David Gerard. Nearly forgot to put this up, whoops)

an EA racist is offered a job, gets duck-milk-shaked, and worries that future AI models won't be aligned correctly (i.e. be racist):

Out of 22 replies, only one commenter actually noted the content of what Richard Ngo got rejected for:

I looked at the 20 most recent tweets/RTs on Richard's timeline and they include a RT about the Great Replacement, a RT of the "Department of Deportation" about non-white sex criminals and a RT endorsing race realism.

I was not hired for my tweets, my succulent tweets!

(To meta milkshake duck, the succulent meal guy also was a nazi fan).

relevant part quoted. The book also revealed that Karlson was an admirer of Adolf Hitler and Nazism who would "indulge his Nazi fetish", use the expression "Two Heil Hitlers" instead of "three cheers" and had a car decorated with a swastika on his lawn. On at least one occasion he threw a party at his home to celebrate Hitler's birthday

Though note that it's a weird curriculum in a few different directions, rather than being uniformly right-wing—e.g. it has some Lacan-inspired stuff, some hippie-inspired stuff on beliefs as emotional strategies, a bunch of rationalist writing, etc.

Ah, got it. It’s not all right wing, there’s also stupid cryptofascist shitheadery.

"Given the points above, I can't in good conscience recommend that people work at Resolution."

Lol, saying you don't recommend people work for the place that told you to fuck off is great.

Spread that around the recruiters and make sure they can tell candidates that a noted racist shit heel was appalled by how not racist they were.
