Pretty sure his name will be blacked out because of national security reasons. It's the DOJ that's delivering the files
Was watching Lindsey Ellis's latest video essay where she was comparing conservative children media to those that teach social emotional intelligence. It struck me that much of media is socializing kids to have a officer in their head to be disappointed if they act in a way authority disapproves of. My kid loves power rangers but I get the same vibe, lots of shame based morality without validating what people are feeling.
"A reasonable question is whether the Fed will remain sufficiently independent after Powell’s term is up in May," Zandi wrote.
Like watching a slow moving train wreck. We all know the brakes are broken, and people are still asking whether there will be a crash.
I mean so does the United States thanks to the 13th amendment but we don't have anywhere near the same infrastructure to show for it
He's hijacking the point that victims need to have their identities protected. But instead of victims he means the perpetrators.
Imagine wanting to die so bad you actually do it but then you wake up in a world where you feel even more out of place.
Providing context is a display of liberal bias.
Something people need to understand is that technology is not a linear progression. We decide not only how it is used and for what purpose, but the actual thing itself. The technology itself can be thought in terms of conviviality, ie how adaptive it is to human intent. Chomsky points to CNC machines; how when they were developed they were done so with top down control in mind. Contrast that with how 3D printers have a trend of supporting more autonomy on the shop floor (print from computer over wifi or plug in a USB stick). While CNC machines of old have practically no thought for such things beyond safety and accuracy.
Also won with less than 50% of the vote. But yeah, most people voted for this.
Seriously good read on what to do next: https://wagingnonviolence.org/2024/11/10-things-to-do-if-trump-wins/
The fascist power structure is unjust and so it is like an upsidedown pyramid being propped up by pillars: people who do the actual work are the pillars. This pyramid topples when those pillars are removed. This can be a workers' strike in a certain sector (example given was the eastern shoremen refusing to load weapons for a war).
I'm also struck by how the article says to handle fear. We need to act as community and flip the script on their fear tactics.
The author of the article also has an interesting interview with Sam Seder where they talk about more historical examples: https://youtu.be/YLBM2SEL6Rc
Maybe the Palestinians themselves devalue their own lives compared to Israeli lives.
You should just stop right there. If your logic depends on saying "they actually don't value their lives as much as others" then please stop and ask "what the hell is wrong with yourself?". People who think like this probably value their life least of all. /s
I swear I am here for the wholesomeness and not because my egg is cracking 😭
