I read the headline and went "what, are they going to start drinking their own piss?"

And the answer was yes. Yes they are drinking their own piss.

Existential threats have a way of crystallizing one's priorities.

I believe that they're deliberately provoking dissenters into the slightest bit of violent action so that they can do exactly that.

While not officially asylum seekers, both Canada and the EU have taken steps to recruit in-demand Americans wishing to leave. BC is overtly wooing US health care workers, Canada as a whole is courting scientists and researchers, and France has made statements welcoming researchers as well.

I remember in the 80s several National Lampoon covers that featured this concept. One had a tagline with something like "Welcome to America, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Honda Motor Company" or something like that. And then there is the slightly racist one in this image:

Damn, I’ve heard jokes about quebecios being snobby with their French but that seems excessive

It's not snobby. From an anglo perspective, here's how it plays out in reality:

> That being said, electronics in our devices do tend to reduce the amount of water and power that appliances use. Dumb devices are extremely inefficient, even though there are fewer points of failure.

I fail to see how electronics in these (unpowered) devices in any way reduce the amount of power that they use.

Due to some of them having a higher orbit. It's an interesting solution. Imagine how different Ukraine would be if they weren't geo-restricted.

Most people don't think about this stuff, but if you need computer cables- power, networking, adapters, hdmi and other AV, etc, Startech is a Canadian company that makes good stuff and is very well priced. You've probably encountered it before but didn't know that it is Canadian.
