literally before some of these people knew what lemmy is, and if theyre young enough (which is likely given its 196), probably before they even knew they were queer

I think we need to create more trans specific meme communities on hexbear to drag more people over from reddit. I'd like to see a punch for punch recreation of /r/traa and /r/tgcj so we can say we are a definitive place to replace reddit for trans users. Currently, blahaj has far too many issues from 196 chasers and we need to up our footing. If I have to, and I hate modding, I'll mod the traa community. I'd also like to discuss strategies for how to go about posting to lgbt spaces on reddit to get people to leave that shithole. Taking over certain communities and redirecting in some way seems like a good idea, maybe poking top posters from traa to come here

I've held my tongue in accordance to our new rules on Hexbear, but this is sickening transphobia and I have seen this levied dozens of times against trans users on Hexbear from users on Blahaj. Hexbear rightly bans people for doubting the validity of people's genders, and would ban anyone upvoting the post as well. I believe in trans unity to the nth degree and I have worked as a volunteer at trans organizations for 10 years helping hundreds of trans people with medical access. To doubt the validity or sincerity of our trans users is beyond the pale.

Ultimately these sorts of governments are very extreme when they first start out, but mellow as they come to grips that a large part of the population is discontent with moralistic politics and want actual material changes. The country is under rather severe sanctions that are causing famines in many parts, I expect them to mellow out a lot of their policies and cozy up to China, because thats really their only option for stabilizing their position. China seems to be very open to this idea.

I'm trans so obviously I don't support them as an individual. To be frank, I think if I visited as a Czech citizen nothing bad would happen to me there and would be safer than many places for a visitor, but that doesn't mean it'd be great to live there and obviously my Afghan trans siblings will not be doing so hot even though there are certain allowances for transness under Islamic law. Things could be worse though, like being under US occupation or ruled by Al-qaeda or something.

Casual reminder that Afghanistan used to be communist until the USA killed many of them. They still have a decently sized socialist movement that, afaik, has no quarrel with the Taliban at this moment. Maybe that issue will be pressed later, but I doubt it.

Hexbear is more trans friendly than the majority of trans places, honestly. The reason for this is the mods defer to trans users on what counts as transphobia, half the mod team itself is trans, and offensive posts are removed quickly before they can affect other people. I'd say its more trans positive than here, based off what I've seen. There are chaser comments that are left up even in response to moderators and admins on blahaj, these would be rapidly removed on hexbear. Plenty of trans places, this one included, also are not very good at weeding out people that are being sneaky about their transphobia and chaser habits, which can poison the well. And not only do the moderators of hexbear do good work, the dev team specifically goes out of their way to program ways to make trans users feel more comfortable (e.g. the universal pronoun tag system).

As a trans woman that is also a survivor of abuse, jokes are made all over the internet about sexual violence and its very hard for me to avoid upsetting my PTSD. Hexbear actively removes these sorts of posts rapidly, too, and even removes borderline cases like bringing up SV out of context and without content warnings. For these reasons hexbear is the main site I visit, no other site or community really comes close.

idk if youve read any of the papers on AI research coming out of china like i have (i translated them from mandarin to english), but they have little concern for the economics of this, the CPC's goals are to increase automation so less people output more, and have been doing so in the construction sector at a breakneck pace. china recently built the world's largest hoover-like arch dam in four years (which would usually take 12-16 years in other countries with modern standards), and plans to reduce it even more down to two years, all while cutting the number of people working on the project. theyre basically '3d printing' dams by having robotic cement trucks act as extruders and have automated sensors that determine the density of concrete to insure safety. workplace accidents are very down as well.

also idk if you know this, but china is increasing reliability and durability of appliances and making it easier to hotswap factories from different types of production easier in order to meet public demands for goods. theyre really a powerhouse scientifically, and are focusing on far more important issues than the west are

so right now im having some pretty major annoyances with how federation is implemented by lemmy as a whole. defed makes it so you cant see whole threads, so looking at AMAs on lemmy.ml from hexbear are essentially useless unless you are viewing the main post, same with technical questions. which means lemmy cant replace reddit for a wide variety of uses. what i guess im asking is, can this be fixed, or is it innate to activitypub?

this is gonna be a huge problem as more and more instances are made. you could see someone make a question post but then you could create duplicate answers, wasting many people's time completely because you cant see each other. its also annoying as fuck that if i enjoy the community here, i have to keep making more and more accounts to access the fediverse as it inevitably becomes more fragmented. so in order to make sure that everyone sees everything youd have to keep creating accounts which is completely antithetical to the idea of the fediverse.

like i'd be ok with not being able to reply to certain instances, or choosing to block instances myself, but having that decision made for me is extremely lame. like if im in some instance talking about star trek or some shit, WHY does it fucking matter that im on a wrongthink instance so certain users cant see or reply to each others shit???
