Donald Trump customarily ignores reasoned arguments and statistics in favor of going with his gut, and one thing he loves is the opportunity to stick it to anyone who’s earnest about activist good government.

If he's not getting a kickback from it, it's not good government in his mind.

Unfortunately in places where this is a law, the response has been violence towards trans men

Clearly you didn't read the article. The first paragraph is about Meta censoring LGBTQ+ content

On Monday, Taylor Lorenz posted a telling story about how Meta has been suppressing access to LGBTQ content across its platforms, labeling it as “sensitive content” or “sexually explicit.”

Posts with LGBTQ+ hashtags including #lesbian, #bisexual, #gay, #trans, #queer, #nonbinary, #pansexial, #transwomen, #Tgirl, #Tboy, #Tgirlsarebeautiful, #bisexualpride, #lesbianpride, and dozens of others were hidden for any users who had their sensitive content filter turned on. Teenagers have the sensitive content filter turned on by default.

When teen users attempted to search LGBTQ terms they were shown a blank page and a prompt from Meta to review the platform’s “sensitive content” restrictions, which discuss why the app hides “sexually explicit” content.

People who comment on articles without reading the article itself should take a long look into the mirror before implying other people are advocating censorship.

Pardon all the losers who voted for him and committed crimes

I bet he won't pardon the Jan 6. rioters since that doesn't do anything for him. He already won with them in jail and without their votes, there's nothing more he needs from them.

One of Vance's former friends detailed the downfall of their friendship as Vance rose in politics. Despite their differences they were still friendly until 2021. Full article : https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/27/us/politics/jd-vance-friend-transgender.html

During their last text exchange that was outlined in the article, they had this to say:

“I know I can’t change your mind but the political voice you have become seems so far from the man I got to know in law school,” wrote Nelson, later explaining their position “as a trans person who accessed needed health care so I could live a full life.”

It does seem like Vance did 180 from someone equating Trump to Hitler to Trump's running mate in just a few years.

But one day I might be a billionaire and when that happens, I don't want to pay taxes.

Are you able to include the HTTP Method being called and the amount of data transferred per request? It's possible that the first request is an OPTION request and then the second request is a POST.

If you can see the amount of data transferred, then you can have some more indication that double the requests are being sent and quantity the bandwidth impact at least.

The Arkansas Republican Party reimbursed the state last month for the wood-paneled and blue lectern, which the state received in August.

Is this typical for the party to reimburse the state for an elected official? If it was reimbursed from campaign funds, wouldn't that be covered by campaign finance laws? Sounds like either the Republican Party is trying to cover it up by reimbursing for it, or they're doing weird accounting to get through a loophole of campaign finance laws.

Hopefully that church loses its tax exempt status over this.

This probably doesn't count, but Sosigenes of Alexandria was an Ancient Greek astronomer who designed the Julian calendar in 45 BC. This was replaced in 1582 AD with the Gregorian calendar (named after Pope Gregory XIII) and is still in use today. Of course both were found by science, but it took the weight of the Catholic Church to push for the more accurate calendar.
