I think now is a great time to separate pride events from these corporate scum. They never have been and will never be allies, just opportunists who would just as willingly burn parades to the ground if it maximizes profit. The capitalist machine will never be your friend.
Absolutely, plus their outrage at anyone not like them. I'm visiting family, two of which are Trumpets, and they have been upset enough to comment by...
- Non-white people expressing gratitude to their non-European origin cultures
- Non-white performers chosen by non-white judges on reality television ("they only chose him because they're both black")
- People speaking in a language other than English
- A trans woman in a movie portrayed as a normal person and accepted by their peers without comment
- A woman not adhering to local societal norms (she wasn't wearing makeup in public! Scandal!)
- A movie portraying an overweight woman as attractive to a non-overweight man
- Anyone expressing dismay over the stock market taking a dive, despite no one mentioning Trump
I test drove one because I had to know. It was awful. I've driven dozens of different vehicles and it by far is the worst I've ever driven. It's just stupid. Everything about it is stupid.
It also felt satisfying to cost Tesla like $10 in electricity and wear and tear.
Who do you think he paid to make this for him? The same guy that plays his video games?
Last I checked (just now), US representatives make $174K/year. They're not allowed to keep donations for themselves and I can't find mention of any additional pay packages.
Can you show me where this additional $126K is coming from?
They have no qualms about lying to further their agenda. Many of the people leading these movements aren't unintelligent, but rather immoral.
That is fucking glorious, thanks for taking the time to put that beautiful wall of text together.
Hey, the Boy Scouts are getting better, no need to kill them!
I just respond with a hearty "yeeearghhhh!" and continue the conversation. The coworkers that know get it, the rest think I'm a lunatic.
I recently had a coworker who was unable to understand how to use Google or other search engines. She may have been the stupidest person I've ever met and was the living embodiment of the fact that one can be highly educated yet still incredibly stupid.
Lemmy.world really can be maddening sometimes. It seems like any vaguely political post develops some intense strawman "tankie" action. I've pointed it out a few times and it doesn't go well.
I expected better, i.e., she didn't spend a single moment looking into Trump as a candidate and just believed everything he and his cronies said.
