Why do we care what the MAGAts think? They're too stupid to see that billionaires don't have their best interest at heart.

[-] ceenote@lemmy.world 66 points 2 months ago

Because like it or not, they'll keep on voting. Making a percentage of them realize they're being taken advantage of might make a pivotal difference in this country's future.

[-] metaStatic@kbin.earth 57 points 2 months ago

because they voted for AOC down ballot.

you should probably be extremely interested in that apparent discrepancy.

[-] earphone843@sh.itjust.works 26 points 2 months ago

It honestly could be that they think she's hot.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 16 points 2 months ago

But I thought MAGAts liked 'em young.

[-] prole 6 points 2 months ago

A significant portion likely gets off on being intellectually humiliated by an attractive, successful woman... And then they hate themselves for it.

[-] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

We're not kink shaming nobody. If they want to elect AOC on the sole premise they want her to stomp on their balls, I'm donating to her work boots fund.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

People vote for candidates for such stupid reasons that it could literally be a case of "I recognize that name!"

[-] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 29 points 2 months ago

Because beyond the racism, their issues are our issues. They're class issues.

[-] billiam0202@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Fantastic. Now get them to realize that.

[-] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

That's the key we need to turn.

AOC has been sort of amazing at identifying this. I remember after the election reading something about her asking people who voted for her and Trump: why?

Honestly, I live in republicanstan. A lot of the gripes and complaints and hopes and ideas are the same.

My father-in-law, now a diehard MAGA, was prepared to vote for Bernie in 2016. He's not an idiot, he was an electrical engineer back when they used slide rules and computer punch cards. It just shows you how people can truly not give a shit about policy and just vote on feels.

[-] burgersc12@mander.xyz 7 points 2 months ago

Yeah I get that, but I don't like their hats!

I know what you're saying is true, but it feels like we live on two different planets sometimes.

[-] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Because they vote consistently no matter what. They don't have to be cajoled just to get them to the polls on election day. They understand that voting is literally the least you can do, not the most. That makes their opinion in a democracy extremely important despite their lunacy.

You should care. We should all care.

The big problem we have in this country isn't just a radical right, it's extreme divisiveness. Foreign and corporate powers have done their best to divide the US populace and pit us against each other. Why? Because that makes us easier to control, easier to manipulate, easier to deceive, easier to advertise to. And one of the keys goals they have is a complete breakdown of communication. At this point we're essentially speaking two different languages and don't even understand each other any more. As soon as you stop talking to the other side, you're letting the corpos and the despots win, because that's what they want. If you don't even care what the other side thinks, you're essentially giving up on the whole idea of these "United" States (and you're wandering ever closer toward another civil war).

[-] burgersc12@mander.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

Cause knowing how much they love trump and AOC feet pics is gonna help us somehow put our country back together, and transform it into something that isn't a horrifying mess like the last 200 years.

[-] Rookwood@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 months ago

Why would they care when they voted for the biggest slimeball of all the billionaires?

[-] PsychedSy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago

She isn't lockstep with Pelosi and company. They see her as still on the outside of the...deeply Washington peeps.

[-] _____@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago

they don't care at all. MAGA are just shit disturbers.

[-] answersplease77@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

AOC lied there. Most senetors and politicians are rich millionares including AOC and Bernie Sanders simply because their salaries, packages, donations are $300k/yr minimum. but thats notjing compared to corrupt senetors whose net wealth in the hundrends of millions , or billionares like the president family

[-] SoleInvictus 31 points 2 months ago

Last I checked (just now), US representatives make $174K/year. They're not allowed to keep donations for themselves and I can't find mention of any additional pay packages.

Can you show me where this additional $126K is coming from?

[-] emmy67@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago

The trick is if you lie enough people won't check you on it.

[-] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 2 points 2 months ago

You realize that having hundreds of thousands of dollars makes you rich, right?

[-] SoleInvictus 3 points 2 months ago

I never said anything either way, but yes. What is your point?

[-] Evotech@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Does not make you a millionaire though

[-] answersplease77@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

not only $126K, the corrupt ones get millions in undeclared donations and gifts, paid travels and expenses, crypto, endorsmensts and sponsors, interviews ...etc..whatever they are all out-of-our-league rich

[-] SoleInvictus 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

That's great and all but it doesn't answer my question. Do you have any legitimate sources that show this or is this just anally sourced?

Edit: the source was their own rectum.
